My pool store told me the same thing...I am a brand newbie and bought two bottles (to the tune of $80) of PhosFree. Boy did it ever gunk up my cartridge filter. Then in less than 24 hours with a brand new filter in, it started shooting the gunk right back into my pool. I need good, sound advice...
