UP goes the Ph, ready for any future TA reduction

I don't even currently have a high TA, but after getting it down I had to play around a little. This didn't turn out as impressive as I planned, but I also only used a bunch of spare stuff left laying around for the most part. It uses four venturi valves I paid $1.63 each for on E-bay but had...

hard plumb and LIQUIDATOR Install (HELP NEEDED)

Hopefully others who know more will jump in on each of those, or someone who had the same stuff and redid it. On the pump side though I don't see how the threaded union shown on the parts list would fit on the pump housing threads. I'd call whoever it was purchased from to double check your...

Electrical wiring to relay for extra outlet

With all that open breaker space why not just install a 15A or 20A GFCI breaker and keep it simple? Someone will be able to verify your proposed downstream wiring though.

hard plumb and LIQUIDATOR Install (HELP NEEDED)

Take some pictures of what it is you are trying to replace. Also, if you ordered those from there give them a call as well. I can't imagine why unions listed for that pump wouldn't fit the pump. Pictures would help again there as well.

Hmmm, maybe I should carry my test kit

My parents are now moving to Florida and staying with me until they find an apartment. Looking at resort "style" apartments. We have about 11 places to hit tomorrow but while out and about anyway stopped at one of them today. Tour starts with the pool right behind the leasing office. "And...

electric heat pump for 75,000 gallons ?

When he mentioned acidic water and heater damage he wasn't specifically referring to muriatic acid the pool guy was likely adding. That is used to lower Ph and Total Alkalinity. He was referring to the chlorine pucks for your chlorine because those are also acidic. Both of them reduce Ph, but...

    Glycerin Gauge Question

This site seems to always have the answer, so if it relates to my pool in any way I seem to forget that Google is otherwise my best friend :) Great article here about it and I did see one reply on one of the threads it was more for any difference in atmospheric pressure. Venting and Filling...

    Glycerin Gauge Question

Thanks AimeeH :) I had searched but was obviously using poor key words. Finding a few others after the one you linked. Answers still vary but Duraleigh posted on a few of them to only worry about it when it's not reading zero with the pump off. Since it has a physical stop it looks like I...

    Glycerin Gauge Question

Hmmm, maybe? Don't cut the tip, but if you do it doesn't matter? Mine has the plug, but some ignore it and another thinks it needs equalizing frequently. Seems like it probably doesn't make a big difference either way.

    Glycerin Gauge Question

Ok, got tired of the El cheapo gauge that goes to 60 psi and my running pressure so low its pretty much impossible to detect a 20% rise. It was time for some regent refills from TFT anyway so I added the gauge. It was delivered today. It sure is purdy compared to the current one!! Nice and...

    Time To Replace SWG. Suggestions?

If you have a VS pump you may also want to consider sticking with that brand, all else being equal anyway. You may have no automation right now, but if the pump and SWG are the same brand any possible future upgrade and a new controller would be easier.

    Hayward s200 leaking bulkhead union

Can you take a picture of where you are talking about? I have an S244. Not sure how different it is, but there's no o-ring right at the valve fitting. It it just a union added along the plumbing close to it? If so, you can replace the o-ring in those easy enough.

PVC pipes keep separating, what is causing this?

Just in case, I also see plenty with healthy doses of blue cement. Others I can see purple primer, but PVC cement was also used right? I hate asking what appears like a dumb question, but even having worked with PVC many times I somehow missed the cement on just one joint and ended up soaking...

PVC pipes keep separating, what is causing this?

Where is it bursting? Looks like a lot of flex PVC there. Just a possibility but having used it often for whole room circulation behind a huge in-wall reef tank I know that flex tends to back out of fittings when cemented and needs to be held longer for it to set.

    SWG Lifespan/Parts Cost

Omnilogic is Hayward and your pump is Pentair. Interoperability is pretty much non-existent so for those components at least it's best to pick a brand and keep them the same.

    Installing commercial chlorinator

Looks like some re-plumbing to me :( Also, I saw your join date and you aren't the same Justin that helped tie my new equipment into the main plumbing. Maybe you should have though :) LOL In any event, that plumbing is whacked.

Can you slam without a FAS-DPD Kit?

I did an Ebay search for "FAS-DPD" and it looks like some will ship. However, I changed my location to Cyprus and would have had a stroke if I really lived there. $60 for shipping on the couple I checked :( Pinguy's idea may work better, if you can find one.

    No Cell Power!

I'd re-solder that joint first. Including the information on what controller you are talking about in your signature or the post would help others that know these systems well though. Otherwise, if you found a bad solder joint and recognized it I'd try re-soldering it before swapping parts.

Think i may need help soon!

"Balance Pak 100 is baking soda (aka bicarb, aka sodium bicarbonate, aka sodium hydrogen carbonate) Low and slow is dry acid (aka sodium bisulfate, aka sodium hydrogen sulfate, aka bisulfate of soda)" I always like the pool store stories, but if I'm not mistaken this one takes the cake. Don't...

    SWG Lifespan/Parts Cost

You can search this site for UV and find a LOT of information, most of which will show you it's either not effective other than in limited situations, and not cost effective. Also, if you read the white papers most manufacturers refer to it says it can reduce "consumption". That's much...

Yep, keep aerating and when it hits 7.8 use the MA to bring it back down to 7.0-7.2 and keep aerating. However, if 600 is correct, that's WAY out of my comprehension!!! I'm sure it will still bring it down, but hopefully an expert comes by on if it's feasible with it that high or if you need...

    I am so smart. . . S M R T

There are a couple here that can, and tell you all about this atom goes to that one. LOL, over my head. Laymans understanding is the out-gassing caused by the PH rise reduces TA, so through repetition TA comes down. Aeration also only speeds up the rise since you have a goal, but if you stick...

Wait for Pooldv or someone else to chime in again then. I saw above getting it to 30 or 40 first and I assumed that and no idea if Pooldv thought the same or saw you were going higher since he mentioned his own was 60. If already going higher I have no clue if you are better off stopping but...
