    repair or refurbish SWG cell?

Thanks to everyone. I've put the SWG in a stand and have been boiling calcium out of it for over several hours. Changed the water, flushed the cell with clear soft water, put it back and put in a new 4:1 water/HCL, and it boils still. After the first HCL boil, I put it under a tap in my...

    repair or refurbish SWG cell?

Did you have a look at the valve configuration around the SWG? I haven't had time to try it, but it might be possible to bypass it. tanks

    repair or refurbish SWG cell?

Thanks to you all. Please have a look at the valve arrangements and speculate as to whether or not I can bypass the cell while running the pump. My last pool had truly simple plumbing compared to this sucker. I'm just starting to figure it out. There are lots more photos of the plumbing @my...

    repair or refurbish SWG cell?

Under the bar code is the only thing? It is said to be w/in the 3 year limit. The tech says it was not cared for correctly and the vendor refused to honor the warranty. It still has significant calcium in it. My TA is 150 and I've been trying to lower it. Fool at Leslie's in Awhatukee...

    repair or refurbish SWG cell?

Forgive me if this has been hashed over before, but I could not sufficiently narrow the search to get to this question? My ~2 year old pool in my newly acquired home has a dead SWG. Hayward and the buyer's warranty won't cover a new one because it was not properly maintained. I gave it a soak...

do I have automatic water fill?

I just bought a new house in Mesa, AZ. Pool is magnificent, two years old, the prior home owner who sold me the home left absolutely NO information regarding the installer, manuals, etc. The previous owners did absolutely nothing to the pool; the SWG was calcified and non operational, although...

Suitability of pool water for personal ingestion

Well, I used to use bleach as my chlorinator, and after a couple of years, one can, w/o a doubt, taste the sodium in the water! I expect that _salty_ water is better than none, but why not do better?

No more bubbles out of the spa jets

I would likely use an air compressor starting at 50 PSI if the vacuum cleaner fails? You'll have to fabricate fittings if sticking the a/c nozzle in wrapped with a rag does not cut it up to 100 PSI. ~~~~ I once got a crazy obstruction in my decades old pool in the skimmer return line right...

    Triton 400 Not Hot Enough

My Triton 400K BTU heater is not getting as hot as it used to. I took measurements with a thermocouple years back when it was new, and either the "POOL" or "SPA" setting would get me 106F. No longer. I've the schematic which I can read well enough. I am just trying to decide what "POT 1" or...

    Old Kreepy losing its grip

Well, the new foot pad seems to have done the trick. Just bought a new set of wings from Pool Supplies Town on Amazon. ~$14 delivered, and the foot pad was under $10. Great place. We'll see how it does. Thanks to all for your inputs.

Thanks for all of your replies. The trap is as it has always been -- correctly installed. I don't know what a photo of KK would do; it just looks like any other. Seriously, the only thing I can figure is that the foot pad is somehow worn. It is not of the same appearance everyplace. Took a...

    Old Kreepy losing its grip

Oh, Lordy. Woe is me! ~~~~~~~~~~~ Thanks for the replies and measurements. ~~~~~~~~~~~ What am I to do??? This old beast looks solid, and yet only recently gets stuck going vertical. It just does not make any sense. I can't find anything wrong with it!

    Old Kreepy losing its grip

I would deeply appreciate it if one of 'yall could pull your Kreepy from the deep, dark depths and measure the depth from the bottom of the Foot Pad to the top of one of the "vents", or inlets that are built into the Foot Pad. I am measuring about 0.172", and I'll wager that MY Foot Pad has...

    Old Kreepy losing its grip

Well, pshaw. I guess I was overly optimistic. Same problems. I even completely closed the bypass on my Kreepy regulator, nothing. Man, that sure starves the pump, and it sure gets NOISY. I am completely at a loss. This thing worked great for so long and now it has just lost its OOMPH.

    Old Kreepy losing its grip

I've got a ten year old (15?) Kreepy that until recently was working just fine. I have a fiberglass over gunnite surface. I've back washed the filter. Got great suction. Kreepy sounds normal, but is moving very slowly and continues to get stuck on vertical paths. It just sits there. I...

    Kreepy Stops Dead

Oh, it is, for certain, a Kreepy regulator. Probably 20+ years old. It came in the box with the first "Kreepy Tony." It pre-dates the despicable "grenade style" regulator. I had a fool pool guy who used to open the gate, look at the pool, and leave (I watched him do so one Thursday....) His...

Thanks for 'yall helping. I shall try to get a picture of the regulator if I can remember to do so. Don't be afraid to prong me about it. ~~~~~~~~ And, on the matter at hand: I let Kreepy dry out overnight. Then I FLOODED the flapper hinges and such from the entry of Kreepy with a food...

    Kreepy Stops Dead

I've a very old Kreepy Krauly that I have manged to keep in relatively good condition. I've been having trouble with it getting stuck. On the side or the bottom of the pool; after a while it just stops. Not just verticals; on the bottom, too. I have a decent pump, LOTS of suction. I am not...
