    cost/benefit shocking pool

LOL..yep!! Kinda, sorta...same thought process!! ONCE I finally got in in my head that the shock number was a minimum that I had to stay above...all the pieces started to come together. The one big piece that you are/were missing are good numbers from a test that is accurate. Congrats on the...

    cost/benefit shocking pool

Dear iam4iam, Let me offer my 2 cents or experience on this post as I have ~ the same size pool, nasty water issues (now gone), and tried to hold onto my old ideas until I got tired of wasting money on my "rational thought process". Ya gotta kill the algae...period. That is the one and only...

Still can't decide...SWG or just BBB

Welcome Sandy! I do both! Like was said earlier, the SWG just adds an easy way to maintain. The shock process using bleach saves on cell life and you have fast and complete control of the pool. Once the pool is where you want it (just days), the SWG make it so EASY to keep in in the proper...

What TFP has done to me..........

Well I'm sure the subject line got some attention. I just wanted to share my experience and let the story and results tell the story.... This is my 5th year as a pool owner. At best, I am a novice when it come to pools and how to maintain. For example, last year alone, it took me until July...

Robot getting stuck on main drain...

Blake..I really have no idea at this time. Too cold for me to get in and go look with a mask. Would that be your suggestion or just going with something like the Smart-Ring? I doubt my paperwork from the install (5 years now) would have that info, but I can look. You thinking just replace the...

Robot getting stuck on main drain...

Any suggestions on how to keep my TigerShark from getting stuck on the main drain? Had a "ring" that fell apart on year 3. I see the Smart-Ring, but wonder if anyone else makes something similar. Smart-Ring looks a bit "pricey" for what it is. All your thoughts are much appreciated!!

    First REAL Test...Here We Go!!!

FC 12.5 CC .5 or less Looks like the synthetic DE has this thing moving toward clearer now. Going to go this route (unless someone has a better idea) for the next several days and see where I am. IF doesn't clear by then, I MAY use a bit of clarifier. Any thoughts and/or suggestion greatly...

    Whew!! I'm more confused now!!

James..Thanks so much for working those numbers for me!! Gives me an idea of what my runtime should be "when" I get this thing cleared up. Dave..I totally agree with you! My issue now is trying to get this thing to clear and a limited amount of time for the next several days. (see my thread...

    Whew!! I'm more confused now!!

    First REAL Test...Here We Go!!!

Okay..time for a little help with my "thought" process..... Today shows no change in clarity. Pressure still running at 5 psi. Took the time to make sure I was getting full flow to filter. No issues there. Looks as if I am catching nothing now with the filter. So...I put in older...

    First REAL Test...Here We Go!!!

Okay..here's that latest.... FC 12.5 CC .5 Just a very little bit clearer. Barely see shallow end pattern (3 feet). Did not brush today until I got home from work. Looks like a little white "powder" can be kicked up with the brush. Not alot, but did cloud just a bit more after brushing this...

    First REAL Test...Here We Go!!!

Sounds like a great plan to me!! I can shut some of the returns (valves) and get those puppies to shoot 10-15 high!! LOL..kinda impresses the crowd, but hurts when you sit on them! Still moving forward..this rain that is moving in should teach me even more. Thanks for ALL your help..hope I...

    First REAL Test...Here We Go!!!

Dave..Thanks for catching that. Here's the deal. The 5 psi reading has been the norm/usual pressure I see when I put in a new or really well cleaned cartridge. I usually runs 7-12 after a bit of use. May be the gauge or could be normal for this setup. I have all 2" pipe with 2 skimmers and...

    First REAL Test...Here We Go!!!

Didn't pass my first "trial" OCLT.... FC 11.5 CC 1 Did have a bit of a pump issue overnight. Filter pressure was 0 psi this morning. Pump strainer had a bit of trash (stems from whirly-bird maple tree seeds), but this is not unusual. Reached into the impeller and found a good amount wound...
