I installed a brand new Pentair IC-40 salt cell and when I ran the "life test" (by pressing the "more" button for five seconds) it displayed 60% life used up. I then replaced this salt cell with another brand new cell. Ran the life test again, and got 60% life used up again. Any ideas why...

Are you concerned that bleach bought at dollar stores might be old or not as effective as bleach bought elsewhere? Just curious.

Mine last about a year, but I have very few trees/leaves to deal with. The bags are pricey, I get mine from Amazon for about $30. I think the newer bags with the plastic clip are better than the originals. If u find them cheaper I'd be interested in knowing. Good luck Bill

I am considering changing from my present SWG Pentair IC40, because of poor customer support and short life time and high cost of replacement cells (550+ just for the cell). So, while I can't recommend a specific model to consider, I can certainly recommend you stay away from the Pentair...

I have mine rolled up and under eaves of our house which is usually shaded. Protected with vinyl tarp and secured with bungie cords.

I had the same problem....wound up breaking off the fuse holder. Purchased another fuse holder at Radio Shack and a 10 amp slow blow fuse.

You do know that you only put the acid INSIDE the cell, don't soak the whole thing; the outside should not get acid on it. Then after cleaning u should be able to dump it in the pool.

Yes, this is a chlorine generator. There is ac power coming into the box, but none from the transformer. Does the fuse unscrew from outside bottom of box, or do I remove the fuse from the inside. Also, there is no green LED light INSIDE the box, which should be on. Thanks

Well, I'll be darned if "flicking the gauge" didn't work! I went out and flicked it, and sure enough, the gauge dropped to zero. I had ordered a replacement gauge and will replace the one I have, but thanks for a great tip and solution!

My inground pool's PSI reading stays the same even when my pump and filter are turned off. Shouldn't the filter's gauge be zero when it's off? thanks for the help.
