Stain in spa caused by ozonator or N2?

Can't dd much to this thread, but your avatar is very interesting. Is there a story behind that one??? Adam

    Hot Tub blower

Sounds like we have a fairly similar setup with the spa sharing water and equip. with the pool. Would you mind posting any pics of yours and maybe the equip./plumbing too? If you had a 2HP blower before and it worked well, I'd replace it with the same. 210-240 should all be the same. Plastic if...

    Don't Use Liquid Bleach Warning?

My plan is to run a stand-alone hot tub on pool water. Course the way I'm doing it is a little different because they are plumbed together and can switch water with the turn of a valve. I do plan to use the original spa pack as part of this set-up and the pool water is saltwater(though no SWCG...

How to drain water out of pool

How many valves are there on the suction side of the pump? How many skimmers? The main drain(s) should only be one valve. Easiest way to figure out which one is the main drain valve is to have the pump on and turn a valve. Go check for flow in all of the skimmers, if one is no longer flowing...

    Pump and Filter cover?

I built this little "doghouse" for my spa equipment this spring. I'm putting a portable spa half inground and integrating it with our AG pool. The two spa pumps and blower aren't made to be out in the elements(they are normally under the shell of the tub) so I had to build the doghouse to...

FYI for rusty water in pool!!

Congrats on getting the rust out of the water. Although there still may be some suspended in the water even though you can see it, and it might cause staining under the right conditions. Also, for anyone reading this, MAKE SURE the Fire Dept. flushes all of their equip. until the water runs...

    New Easy Set Pool Owner

If you can, buy a "real" pump and filter for your pool. If you(or DW) isn't into the price of a new filter, look on Craigslist or eBay. We also have an Intex Easyset pool and this is will be our 9th summer(I think) with it. We bought our pump and sand filter at a garage sale for $40 and it has...

    Probably a stupid filter question

I was going to suggest to manually prime the pump, then I realized this is on an Above Ground pool. :hammer: Is the pump below the waterline like most? Are you using silver or black corrugated plastic flex hose? If you are, make sure it hasn't collapsed anywhere restricting flow. If you take...

How to drain water out of pool

Just turning the handle to drain on the multiport will not shut off the skimmers. It will send thewater out the backwash pipe though. To drain below the skimmers, you'll need to find out how to shut them off. Do you have a couple of valves before the pump(suction side) or do you just have one...

suggestions on adding permanent water line to pool

I don't know if anyone else caught this, but the OP has an AG pool, not inground, if that makes any difference. I wonder if you could make a "toilet tank"(afterall, that's basically all an AutoFill is) that sits under the deck, but even with the top of the pool. If you could figure out a way to...

Is it normal to see a little bit of sand after backwashing?

I'm not sure if it's normal, but mine has always done it. When I think about the backwashing process, I don't see how you could not loose a little sand each time. When the water flow is reversed, the sand all mixes around and I'd think for a little to get pushed out with the backwash water would...

Okay, I Lied - Another Question

Then the sand is probably not channeled. As long as the water is staying clear I wouldn't worry about it. Adam

    Question about Teledyne Laars heater

I'm not 100% sure because I don't own one myself, but the knob may be so you can set one temp for the spa, and one temp for the pool, then just switch between modes without messing with the temps. This probably only applies if you control the heater using its panel. My other guess is that it is...

    solar cover reel

To post pictures you can upload them to a photo hosting site such as Photobucket( http://www.photobucket.com ) then copy and paste the Image Code here. That is what the code will look like when you are in the post typing box, except instead of my code between the tags, your code will be there...

    HP versus cost savings.

Not a whole lot to add to the thread, but, I think the link above should be added to one of the articles(maybe the "Have you lost your Head?" thread. It seems pretty accurate to me and makes it easy to figure out how to size your pump. :o Adam

Okay, I Lied - Another Question

Generally you'll have low PSI(not much higher, if any than the Recirculate mode). But, the thing most people notice first when their sand has channeled is debris back into the pool through the return(s). Easiest way to be sure is to just take the top off the filter and look. HTH, Adam

Cracked water heat exchange on Titan heater

Is yours like the one in the site linked below? This site:http://www.waterworldpools.ca/pools_inground_heaters.html#pump says it may have a 10 year warranty. If it's only one year old, you might not be out of luck after all. Good luck, Adam

Solar Panel and Rack design help

60' of 1 1/2" PVC probably won't dramatically increase your head, but if you end up having a long run like that you might want to consider using 2" PVC. Other than that, everything you have planned looks good to me. Adam

    Concrete pool up north

I continue to follow this thread and am continually amazed. I agree with the others, the quality of your work is amazing. That pool will be around a while, that's for sure. You may have said in another post that I missed, but what is the orangish-red tube in the equipment room for? Adam

    Doughboy powerpak pump leaking

Any chance you can snap a few pics? I'm sure that would help everyone here figure it out. I'm also thinking your pump is a little different(on the outside) then most because of another picture of one I've seen. HTH, Adam

Adding Solar Bear Panels to our AGP- The process with pics

Not to insult your husbands plumbing ability, but they shouldn't all leak, at least not right away. If the joints are cleaned and glued properly it should hold, at least for a while. I have quite a few DWV fittings in my system(every 90* elbow is a sweeping one) and I've not had a single leak...

Rock under Intex pool...need some advice please

I wouldn't worry about the rocks. We've had at least one rock under ours every year, and we're put the same Intex 18' Ring pool for 8 summers(this summer will be the ninth). I just step on them, and if that doesn't work, then there's just a rock in the bottom. lol Like someone else said, these...

Metal Frame vs. Ring AG Pools?

Can't really chime in about the metal frame pool, but this will be our ninth summer with our 18ft. ring pool. The two things I like about the ring pool is that the ground doesn't have to be perfect(ours has always been 1-3" off in various directions each year, and the fact that you can dig it...

    Adding Another Solar Panel.

Thanks for all the help guys. I may end up running the return from the lower panel to the top of the others just because of the way the plumbing will run. I can certainly ask how hard it is to adjust the temp. differential part later on. My thinking behind the 1-3, or 2-5 range was based on the...

    Adding Another Solar Panel.

I had to read it twice, but I think I got it. :hammer: LOL The reason I asked about connecting the lower panel's return to the top of the upper panels was because I thought I'd read somewhere that this will help equal out the flow because the water still has to be pushed up to the same height...

    Pool plumbing questing

Hmm, well then I guess the only way to figure out where it goes is to snake it, or get a plumber with a camera on a snake to follow it and see what the end looks like. Good luck, Adam

    Adding Another Solar Panel.

Currently I have 3 solar panels on my garage roof, all of them 2x20. One is a SunHeater brand panel with the inlet and outlet on the same side. The other two are SunGrabber panels with Inlet and outlet on opposite sides. Last summer I had the inlet and return piping all on the same side. The...

    Pool plumbing questing

Do you have a main drain? Does the skimmer have two holes in the bottom? It's possible(I think) that they could have plumbed the vacuum port to the second hole in your skimmer. This is a common practice with main drains. HTH, Adam

Not sure about the numbers for pump-please help me calculate

I calculated my GPM one time, but I don't know if my method was accurate or not, anybody know? What I did was to attach a 3ft. length of flex hose to the return in the pool and held the other end in a 5 gal. bucket. I turned on the pump and timed how long it took to fill the 5 gal. bucket. I...
