Ok I shut off the chlorinator so it'll come back down. I'm really confused how it got so high again.

Ok since I can't actually test pH until my chlorine comes back down I've turned off my swcg again. I've asked my wife to pick up some pH up on the way home. I'll feel safer if I counter what I put in earlier until I can get a good reading.

Ok pH was still above 8. I added 40oz of muriatic acid to bring it down to 7.2

I checked it before I went to bed and there wasn't much left in the skimmer. I expect it would have been gone this morning since I had the pump on high all night. I'll check pH when I get home tonight. Thanks for all the guidance.

So I was going to add some CYA, which I believe will also lower pH. I was thinking I should do that today, however, with the pump issue, I didn't want it to get another code and turn off while I had a bag of CYA in the skimmer. Should I hold off on CYA and add muriatic acid?
