Forum server upgrade on Friday afternoon - now completed

Character encoding? Was there a database dump-and-reload as part of the move? The carefully-crafted advanced Unicode symbols in my signature got all mucked up, almost as if the database was dumped in one encoding (UTF-8?), then re-loaded in a different encoding (ISO-8859-1?) I'll work on...

    Calcium Hardness is Ridiculous???

My CH is at 700. I keep all other parameters in strict control, though, so no problems. If it gets into four digits, only then will I look at a reverse osmosis treatment.

    Wetting D.E?

Definitely get a mask from your local hardware store and use it! You don't want to end up with silicosis.

    Spa water level dropping

This happens to me occasionally when switching from spa mode back to pool mode. One of my valve actuators (on the suction side) doesn't close off the spa drain completely, so it's about 15% spa drain and 85% main drain. The actuator on the other side works reliably, so it's 100% pool returns...

Pentair EasyTouch \ Intelliflow VF Questions

I'm no expert, but from my own tinkering with my system here's what I think: #1. No idea. #2. No, features programmed into the pump are completely ignored once the automation takes over. Therefore, I wouldn't spend any time tinkering with the pump's programability, as nifty as it might be...

Soon to be pool owner (Custom Swamp Pool)

Yep, the A&A in-floor system. I know of no pop up jets with clear plastic—but you probably want opaque in a color that complements the surface color anyway. If it were clear, you'd be able to see the sprockets, spring, and other innards.

Great! This site is full of info and friendly people and I'm glad it helped you close your pool. (Personally I have no idea what all this "closing" is but whatever works!)

    Freeze protection

On mine I have freeze protection set ON for the POOL, SPA, and WATER FEATURE circuits. That causes the main pump to come on with valves alternating between pool and spa (as described in the manual) and the feature pump to come on in freezing air temperature. I'd imagine setting freeze...

    New Pool in Frisco

We'd love to see some pics! And welcome to the forum. I too discovered it well after signing a contract, but I love taking care of the pool 100% myself thanks to all the info here. Frisco, eh? If that's Frisco TX, then "hello neighbor"!

    easy touch and service mode?

When my panel is in "service" or "time out" mode, I flip open the little door on my IntelliFlo pump and can use its buttons to start, stop, reset, and control the pump speed.

What does everyone wear in the pool?

On hot says I always wear thongs, but I take them off before I get in the water. I know some people don't like thongs but I think they are quite comfy. Yep, thongs. One on each foot. What did you think I meant?

    Where Does This Pipe Lead??

Spa fountain, perhaps? Our spa has a hole in the middle of the floor that we can insert an upright pipe into. The end of the pipe has a decorative diffuser. When we turn the valve at the pump it makes a pretty fountain in the middle of the spa. That we never otherwise use. ^_^
