Sand filter may not be working right

Sand filter seems to be 98% better. Very little in return water filter sock. One more adjustment will probably make it 100%. Thanks for the help.

Sand filter may not be working right

The valve head was attaching to the standpipe by sliding over the standpipe. I'd estimate that the two were connected by about 1-1/2" with the standpipe sliding into the port head. Now with me pulling the standpipe up it should now be supported off the bottom of the barrel with sand and is now...

Sand filter may not be working right

So I just took the multi port head off and everything seems fine. I did notice that the standpipe was maybe two inches below the top of the barrel. I looked at how the head fit on; the head has a tube that is split at the bottom to allow it to fit into the tube easier I believe, and the head...

Sand filter may not be working right

Also I should say I didn't put the sticker on mine so maybe the installers did. I'll have to do some serious investigation I guess. It feels like the installers did everything they could to cause me to return to the pool store

Sand filter may not be working right

I will double check everything but I do know there is an indexing tab on the multi port head. I also know it is possible to put it on without it being lined up as I did that before I found the tab. I'll take a look at everything today and report back. Thanks for your reply.

    That's a self appointed title. [emoji15]

And if what I said doesn't work I'll start over.

Sand filter may not be working right

Yeah I realize I overdid it with the way I backwashed but I hadn't found that method before I did what I did. I didn't even know people deep cleaned their sand at that point. I've pulled my laterals up a bit before. I take the running hose and burrow it down in the sand and with the water...

    Sanitizing with liquid chlorine

My two pennies worth is take your estimated pool season length and estimate how many times you'll go to the grocery store during that time and do the math to decide how many bottles of bleach to buy each time. Just keep close to what you'll need between shopping trips on hand. Keep more than...

    First time pool owner

I fully agree with everyone else. It's done for. Take it to a scrap yard though, they will give you a few dollars. How's the water?

Sand filter may not be working right

I'm going to try lifting the tube with laterals up some and check my results. I'll let you know.

My generic pump is too much I think

Thank you, I knew there was something about the SPL part and was hoping someone would explain that.

Sand filter may not be working right

Check all laterals. All like new. Just poured the sand in with a glove over the riser. No water. I've considered that maybe the laterals are too low in the barrel. I suppose I should try to measure how far below the top of the barrel and compare to the multi port valve.

Sand filter may not be working right

Well I agree that I shouldn't have to replace the sand but I did do a very very thorough cleaning of the sand and everything. I washed it all out into a kiddie pool and washed it and washed it and washed it. There was still a lot of foreign non organic particles in it. So I just decided to do it...

Sand filter still not up 10lbs pressure - 3.5 weeks in

I have the exact same issue. I even replaced the sand for piece of mind. I felt it was contaminated from pvc shavings that found their way into it. The pressure hasn't moved more than one psi.

Cloudy water and I think I'm in balance

For what it is worth I had the same situation with very similar numbers except my cya is 50. I had just vacuumed and the water was very cloudy with all chemistry perfect. I did one last slam of chlorine and by the next morning everything was clear as could be. I had brushed everything and had...

My generic pump is too much I think

Sorry if this doubles posts, I replied a minute ago but I don't see it now. I had ball valves coming and going. The return has to be throttled down to quite the pump. Can you suggest a specific two speed pump and timer? I run 24 hours a day because I don't really know how long I should run...

My generic pump is too much I think

What you describe about the sound is correct. And your solution seems to be exactly what the doctor ordered. I haven't tried restricting the flow from the skimmer. So it has free flow from the skimmer but if I don't restrict the return a bit, that's when the pea gravel sound picks up. With...

    Filter hose crimps during vacuuming

I'd put money on it. My basket floats a bit when pump is off but no big deal that I can tell.

My generic pump is too much I think

So I checked it out again tonight. I have a ball valve below the skimmer, just before the through-wall return/light, and I made an additional return that hooks over the wall and gives me the ability to have both returns on 100% or any combination really. So it's very convenient to shut down...

Test Kit Arrived Today - I need someone to walk me through this

Ms. Pad, just a side note; for me when I read TFP messages I get promoted to read it through Tapatalk so when people say to click on pool school or whatever at the top of the page it's not there. I'm always viewing from my phone. I am familiar with the website and realize that's the view you...

    Filter hose crimps during vacuuming

What was in the skimmer basket? Seems logical that the blockage would contribute to hose collapse. I also don't use the skimmer basket when I vacuum as there is one at the pump.

    Chlorine Drop Test

When you're entering numbers into poolmath you need to be sure to press the enter key or return or whatever you may call it on your phone or computer. If you had a previous entry and it said add two quarts and then you test later and enter a new number it can stay with the same suggestion to add...

Any suggestions for a two speed motor? I generally filter 24 hours.

My generic pump is too much I think

Water level is currently an inch below the top of the skimmer box opening.

My generic pump is too much I think

Ok I figured the HP was too much. Im not familiar with how to decide what I need. I see all the talk of two-speed motors and just not sure what is worth buying. I do have the pool much more full than previously. The weir is in place even though the installer claimed it was unnecessary. He said...

My generic pump is too much I think

Electrical is all resolved. Pictures are old. The air seems to be from the pump creating just enough vortex at the skimmer it pulls air in. So the question I was trying to ask is do I have a pump with too much power to be efficient.
