I haven't filled it yet, I was waiting to see what answers I got before attempting
I have a Retractable cover with Polycarbonate roof and glass side for all year round use and I was previously advised to keep it at 20
I have managed to clear up most of the staining now especially rubbing a sock filled with AA over the persistant stains
Regards raising the PH, I use the Aeration method, will this work with getting the pool in balance
I still have some stubborn stain, if I rub a sock filled with AA in it, it disappears. This is OK at the top but further down a problem
I have used a kilo (2.2lbs) of AA and a quart of Sequestrant in a 10K gallon (UK)
I have ordered some more AA
I have just started the AA treatment and it's working as some is visibily clean
The only problem I see is that where I have poured the AA along the sides is it is cleaning in streaks and leaving some stain still there especially at the top
Will this dissipate overnight as the water mixes more...
There are images at the beginning of the post
I don't have my Taylor test kit delivered yet but with my Aquachek meter and strips
Chlorine 0.6
PH 7.1
TA 143
Temp 30° C or 86° F
Does anyone have an idea to the time scale to get the pool rebalanced?
It will be used at 4pm Monday and then again Saturday 10am
I have all the chemicals and just need a time slot
I've got used to checking where the products are coming from when I see a large shipping fee and long delivery.
That isn't always the case as I have had some stuff from Japan with free postage.
I suppose that in the USA the market is so large that you can get everything in your home market...
If you click Below Cost Products UK. you are taken through to there details which shows they are in Texas. It seems that they have a listing for only shipping to the UK but with the high shipping costs and longer delivery and possibly customs duty
Hi All
I have managed to find this http://www.poolandspachemicals.co.uk/1lt-no-more-metal
Searching for Sequestering Agent only picked up from the USA
I'm just waiting for the chlorine level to drop then i'll begin dosing
Yes, I have already seen that and intend to go that route. The only problem is that I can't seem to find Sequestering Agent over here. Is it known as anything else
The ascorbic acid works a treat. I rubbed the stains and the stain quickly disappeared
The PH down worked as well but not as fast as the ascorbic acid.
What is the next step as most of the staining is on the side?
I have some PH Down from when I used to balance the pool water with it
I'm slightly incapacitated at the moment for it may have to wait a few days
BTW Most of my staining is on the side
I have been looking to get this kit but there doesn't appear to be anywhere outside the USA to get it
I have seen it on Ebay for about $140 when everywhere else is about $70 but they don't ship to the UK
Does any one have knowledge of a retailer over there that can or will ship here
I did mention that the pool was fibreglass and it's in the title
However I will add to my profile
I will wait till I get the test kit before trying Purity Pool UAW Underwater Acid Wash Set.The only thing that bothers me about it is that the black staining is widespread and how much acid will be...
Hi All and thanks for your input
We don't have pool stores here. I suppose the market isn't big enough
Lo-Chlor Black algae killer was put in after the staining
I have already contacted Jacks Magic Stain Identification Kit regarding a local distributor or retailer
Firstly
I topped up the pool shortly after checking but I pulled out the flap (and broke it) from the skimmer weir and poured muriatic acid on it. The stain disappeared immediately (no bubbling)
Secondly
It seems to have evolved over time
We are on mains water supply and the water is hard
I...
I poured a lot of sodium hypochlorite 13-15% into the skimmer weir and left overnight with the pump off. There was no difference to the staining. It wasn't even soft to scrape or brush off.
The Test kit could take 3 weeks to get here
Hi Pat
I've ordered the recommended test kit
The water level has dropped a bit, can I rub some liquid chlorine onto the stain above the water level to test
Hi Pat
I use the Aquachek meter and strips as test kits aren't readily available
Chlorine 3
PH 7.4
TA 120
I haven't had this problem before and the pool is checked regularly
I use sodium hypochlorite 14/15% and reduce my TA with Muriatic acid and raise the PH with aeration
Hi
I have a problem with black staining on my fibreglass pool
It's not related just to the fibreglass because it is happening in the plastic weir as well
I have used Lo-Chlor Black algae killer to no avail
A stainless steel wire brush moves it but very slowly
Check your "O" ring on the pump filter basket. You may have to lubricate it with silicone grease or vaseline to get a good seal
I had exactly the same problem with a new Onga pump it circulates OK but when you put an extra load via the vacuum it sucks in air
Try this before replacing anything
