    Last year was 1st pool season and opening pool for the 1st time...took a water test... water was looking clean. results (before starting filter): FC/CC = 0 Ph: 7.1 TA: 50 CA: 50 CYA: 30 Salt = 2200 the water is transparent clean, i only see brown sediment ... not sure if this is brown algae or...

    @Divin Dave the pipe is connected to the return on one side... i can cap off the other side... since part of it is old black poly, is there a danger of pipe exploding ? @PoolGate the booster line doesnt go all the way to the pool.... i looked at the old pool inspection and there are 2 returns...

    @CJadamec the link you provided doesnt have 1.5in valve , but if they were, arnt Pentair Jandy and others serviceable valves ? So it should eliminate the need for union, unless your concern is housing itself.

    Do I need a Backflow check valve?

    I'm in the same situation and after reading many posts, there is no need for a check valve. However, I am making sure I have some space for it so it can be installed if needed later.

    All great options, I see pentair valves were almost the same price as Hydroseal or similar valves, so I am going to get those. But these will not be union valves... is that ok? I'm thinking one valve for each of the inflow pipes and one valve for out of the outflow pipes. Total 5 valves

    Hi, I am replumbing all the equipment (1.5in pipes) and wondering if I should use basic 2 way valves available in big box stores ? Or pool grade ones ? Want to keep the budget low. For reference, I dont have any water features and installing new intelliflo VSP and new cartridge filter.

    @kim , I'm pretty much in the same situation. Qq about the CYA, any specific reason to keep CYA low ? I will have a SWG , recommended CYA is 70-80, so why aim for a lower CYA?

    starting a 23k pool with fresh liner and water. will be filling from the hose, so did a water test with my new kit and here are the results. just want to make sure I am getting it right: PH is 7.4 this is OK FC is 0 (ofcourse) . Using pool math app, i need to add just 1 Gallon on chlorine 16%...

    No, the deck is staying. At max resurfacing the deck, but I cannot afford to get rid of it. One idea that I had was to just have 3 laminars along the north (top) side of the deck

    North will be the Top of the picture. will try to update the pic. will try to put the equipment all the way to the back wall... yes, the heater is gas. its old.... but i will still move it. i know the gas will be a pain and expensive... trying to get a quote on that. how easy is it to move it...

    SO i was thinking of adding a laminar to the pool as i am redoing the existing pool (everything). i didnt realize till today, but my pool is not in the center of my deck. So if you look at the pic below, you will see its kinda pushed to one side. so i am very unsure where the laminars should go...
