Presuming all is still connected...Is there a 'recirculate' on your valve?

Agreed on that---I replaced my S244T filter with a new one for multiple reasons...but that's the process. Check online prices on a whole new sand filter before ordering just the valve. You may be surprised. I think I paid $260 for a complete S244T shipped.

This is basically another free bump...but my understanding is they shouldn't be fired up dry.

Roger...the lid is slightly domed so hard to eliminate ALL air, but I'll remember to burp it good next time.

Didnt know they made an XL size '"Pucky Ducky" as we call him here. May be worthwhile. I normally use BBB but often keep pucks going during startup or rainy periods to keep the CYA up.

I've done 2-3 sometimes myself when it was questionable...but I remix and retry. Having a pint bottle of CYA reagent makes it easy...I've gone thru about half a pint in a year.

Not sure what pool suppliers are really close to you but I used to deal with Great Escape in North Olmsted. I see they have one in Strongsville and one in Canton as well. They always had a reasonable stock of fittings/hoses/etc.

Glad you didnt 'freak out' about it. I saw a water snake in my pond AFTER next door neighbor telling me he'd seen "poisonous snakes" in his pond. I calmly watched it swim away from me and ID'd it as a harmless Northern Water snake. Have had a few small garter snakes and ringneck snakes in pool.

Ditto on motor replacement, especially if you have a 115V system. You can't find a decent 2 speed pump in 115V anymore, but you can get motors. If 1HP has been enough, and enough for vacuuming, you could stick with that and get a 1HP 2 speed. Get one with a switch in the end if needed. I'd...

My Hayward Super pump spits a bit of water out of the lid upon shutdown for a couple seconds then stops...and I mean SPITS, not dribbles. It doesnt leak when running. Old pump body and lid probably 10 years old, new lid seal and motor installed last fall. Pump/filter pad is below normal...

Sorry to hear you got burned, I hope you got it rinsed off quickly. Many Muriatic Acid jugs as well as Pool Chlorine jugs are vented but wont typically spill if handled upright and gently. Sounds like you might have got one that was partially open. Agreed with posting your numbers as well...

I am no expert, but first thing I would do is redo the CYA test a few times, reading instructions carefully. If consistently 95, yes, you need to replace 40-50% of the water in the pool. I prefer 40-60 on my CYA. You could get away with 60 in Houston I think.

I figured that out before installing any of the DWV fittings...reused the old stuff. 15-25 PSI Pool pressure shouldnt be an issue, but didnt want to take a chance. Unused parts can go back to store. Fortunately I am a much better/wiser electrician than a plumber...so the timer install should...
