After backwash motor won't come on?!

Seems I remember testing both leads at the same time..one lead on L1 the other on L2 at the same time and got 0...I think. I did turn breaker on/off but not while testing...nothing. It's a double 20a breaker.

After backwash motor won't come on?!

Here's some pics. Anytime I've heard or seen a capacitor fail the motor seems to always "hum" like it's trying to start but just can't. Is this not always the case?

After backwash motor won't come on?!

backwashed..now motor won't power back on. A friend says prob the start/run capacitor..but doesn't the motor at least "hum" when it's a bad capacitor? It's dead silent..no sound at all. I put a multi meter on it. Has power to the breaker and the leads going into the pump. 124v on each side...

Who uses a portable pump for spring clean ups? Tell me about your set up. I use a 3/4hp/1.0sf Hayward super pump. I feel like i need more power!

Maybe a different vacuum head? I know when the brushes get worn and flat on mine it will suck better. If I'm doing a fiberglass or gunite/concrete Pool the vac head for that is much lower to the surface and has wheels..so of course suction is greatly increased. But that heads not safe for vinyl...

aj, is he satisfied with its power? Just seems like my old 3/4 hp super pump back in the day would suck up big piles of leaves very quickly...this new one will do it ..eventually..kinda have to sometimes "camp out" for a bit.

Hey James, Yes pump is set to 115 when I wired it. I will crack it open and check the impeller. Haven't in awhile...I do sometimes do vac out on concrete/rocks after work has been completed. Basket I keep clean..not cracked. Full prime..no air bubbles...runs good. Maybe I'll just try a...

Hey chris I don't think there's really anything wrong with my new pump I think it just pulls less amps than the older one did. Less amps= less power right? Am I thinking right?

No sir would just be to much extra to drag out/around. I just waste the water out with the debris. Much like setting multi port to waste bit no risk of clogging skimmer line!..been there done that! Then ya gotta drag out the cyclone to blow out the line ugh!

Hey chris, I do service work. Many clean ups a year. Years ago I had an older 3/4 hp super pump that seemed to have more power than this newer model? Maybe this one pulls less amps..can't read the older ones label anymore. I use 12 gauge ext cords from customers outlet to my pump. I would step...

The 3/4 hp pulls 11.0 amps. I would love to jump to a 1 1/2 hp but think it pulls like 18.6 amps and am afraid I would start tripping breakers?! Maybe my only options are a 1.0hp? Think they pull like 15.0 amps. Any suggestions?

1hp impeller with 1.5hp motor (super pump) will it work?

I tried stepping down to a 1.0hp/1.1sf and it wasn't enough to power the water fountain on the step out area (didn't shoot up as high) even if I turned the return/jet line totally off!

1hp impeller with 1.5hp motor (super pump) will it work?

Thanks James! So should I just slap a 1.5hp/1.0sf (again last motor was 1.0hp/1.5sf but doesn't matter as long as thp =1.5hp correct?..guess it doesn't matter how you get there)motor on and keep the current 1.0hp impeller?
