Polaris 280 (with tail sweep pro) lives in the deep end...help!?

For my 380 getting this spigot on the back set just right was sooo critical. It is REALLY sensitive. 0.1mm off and it isn't the same, so you just have to find that perfect point. If you can't move it, try harder but don't break it. Look closely and you can see where this "ball" mounts into the...

Polaris 280 (with tail sweep pro) lives in the deep end...help!?

At the very rear in the center of the unit down low there is a little spout which shoots water out. It shoots rearward. Using your fingers try to move it around. It swivels up and down and left and right giving you 180' in 2 axes to play with. This steers it more or less.

    2015 Aquabot Icon Xi REVIEW

Anyone have any ideas?? The Aquabot tech I spoke to didn't know how to troubleshoot it, and send back back to Corporate. I left a VM and also sent an email. So far nobody has gotten back to me. The retailer said they didn't know how to troubleshoot these yet either, as they are too new. So much...

    2015 Aquabot Icon Xi REVIEW

Update... bad news!! This morning I ran the cleaner again and it ran for about an hour then the power supply shut off and blinked both blue LEDs. I turned it off, and turned it back on. I started it, and it immediately went back off and flashed both blue LEDs again. I let it sit for a bit. The...

Pool cleaner recommendation - Robot or Pressure Side?

Being in the process of switching from pressure-side (Polaris 380) to robotic (Aquabot Icon), one key difference I will point out is the dependency on a) your pressure-side cleaner booster pump and b) it's hoses. The hoses leak, and are very difficult to work with. There's a thread on here about...

    Robotic Cleaners... questions

This is my biggest gripe too. I have read a LOT of posts on various forums saying folks leave their robots in. Some have left them in for YEARS!! I care mostly because of the cost.. it's a lot more to replace a robot than a Polaris. One other thing I've noticed is plastic does OK for long...

    Robotic Cleaners... questions

I'm sure the Polaris doesn't mix 70gpm, but it sure is a lot. Have you ever run it out of the water (like when fighting with it or troubleshooting it)? Oh man, it soaks you - quick. :D (btw, the best way to do that is troubleshoot it on the 1st step or a swim platform, which keeps it mostly...

    Hmmm robotic cleaner.... which one?

I've done a lot of research on these lately, and the 3 brands of auto pool cleaner to buy are: Dolphin/Maytronics Aquabot Blue Diamond

    Robotic Cleaners... questions

From what I can tell, all cleaners 'mix' the water. Some Dolphin/Maytronics models actually claim this as a feature, but it's purely marketing. Yes, there is a benefit to having your cleaner mix the water, but any cleaner will mix it. Your returns should mix the top/mid water, so you should be...

Insanely high CL levels, according to test kit(s)

Right.. and maybe the air is a good thing as it prevents all of the pucks from being dissolved too quickly (which is likely what causes the high CL levels).. But it's annoying to have to gauge how quickly they dissolve now in addition to the dial setting in addition to how quickly the sun/UV and...

Insanely high CL levels, according to test kit(s)

That sucks.. That's also quite bizarre because I don't notice the smell of CL, and our eyes don't really burn if we open them under water. The pucks dissolve after like I said ~2 weeks, and I just add more. I guess I thought the puck feeder only let so little out that it kept it equivalent to...

Insanely high CL levels, according to test kit(s)

Thanks (for being civil, Bama Dave)... I ran the FAS-DPD test again. I put in about 2 heaping spoonfuls worth in order to make it stay pink this time. It turned (and stayed) really dark pink. About like this. I ended up having to put about 60 drops of 871 in there to make it turn (and stay)...

Insanely high CL levels, according to test kit(s)

I got the same results with the Pentair kit and also the Taylor kit which was inside my TFT kit. The kits are pretty old, I wonder if the reagents are bad? In both cases, after adding the second drop of reagent, it began turning orangish. Basically more yellow than the darkest yellow. I tried...

Insanely high CL levels, according to test kit(s)

Hi, I've had my pool ~5 years now, and this year I am testing it after doing some maintenance and cleaning the filters, etc... I've never had any problems with it, and not once have had algae pop up (I'm quite proud of that!). I use the CL tabs, of course, and so I know my CYA levels are really...

CL stains on Calcium on Limestone Raised Beam!!

Ok, I did not realize they are the same thing. I never knew Muriatic was HCL. Duh! Fortunately I do have some Muriatic acid and have used it before to break in my pool and get it balanced initially and also once to remove a stain from my limestone coping, so I should have put 2 and 2 together...

CL stains on Calcium on Limestone Raised Beam!!

257WeatherbyMagnum :goodjob: thank you so much for that idea!! I agree with your analysis of what is causing it. I was thining it is Calcium buildup but maybe it is Efflorescence indeed. It crumbles like it when I mess with it. It is mostly whiteish, but now it is getting stained I believe -...

CL stains on Calcium on Limestone Raised Beam!!

Hey folks - I had a pool built about 15 months ago and it has been going great except I've started to notice what I believe to be Chlorine stains on the limestone surface of my raised beam. I'm pretty confident it is a stain and chemical related because I've sprayed it with a 50/50 Bleach/Water...

Algae and possibly stain+mold around scupper/waterfalls

OK so I upped the CL a little bit and also sprayed a 50/50 CL+H20 mix onto the problem area. Within 2 days it is not green or black anymore. I didn't even need to scrape it away, it is just "gone". :) Case closed!! Thanks again TFP!

Algae and possibly stain+mold around scupper/waterfalls

I was thinking I could get a very potent spray bottle of CL and try that - basically spritz "shock" those problem areas a few times, right? My CYA is like 50 and my CH I think is 475, and my PH is usually around 7.6, and my CL is usually at 2.5. I cannot remember the last time I had CC > 0. I...

Algae and possibly stain+mold around scupper/waterfalls

I've had my new in-ground pool running now since February. We had no problems with it but at some point in maybe July, we had run out of Chlorine for possible a day or slightly more. We saw some algae forming around the waterfalls and a little bit below the water in the plaster. No big deal, we...

Heavy TX Rains and now Pool is GREEN

Yes, I will drop the trichlor back down now since I shocked it.. I was pretending it is warm enough just so at least I can learn the answer.. :) Anyways, I supposed I *COULD* use the Spa.. :) Is there a level which FC is above that it is NOT safe to swim? For that matter, what about pH...

Heavy TX Rains and now Pool is GREEN

OK, I'll get one and toss it in the skimmer.. BTW, FC=6.5 and CC=0 now... W00T!! :) So I guess the other 3.5ppm CL got used up killing the last bit of algae that was trying to grow.. So after my pool clears up in the next day or so (based on the rate it is clearing up), if I still have, say...

Heavy TX Rains and now Pool is GREEN

How does the scumbug work? Does it have to float or can I toss it in my skimmer basket under my skimmer sock? Or in the pump clean-out basket? I don't really like the thought of a dirty white sponge floating around my pool.. :)
