What do yall do in Texas now? Do you let pump shutoff at night? Run on low? Run on high? Combo? Is it not advised to do a morning FAS DPD before work while pump is off? Would appreciate any suggestions on pump and speed and time Thanks all!!

I’m still learning the chlorine part. I came home today and the fas dpd read nothing. I pulled out the OTO and zero. This morning at 5:45 when I left I did a fas DPS and was at 2.6 FC and .4 CC. Now almost 12 hours later nothing. Maybe I didn’t have my FC high enough. And the pump shuts off...

Cool!! Thanks. Yeah the new chlorine test worked great. I knew something had to be up with the water looking like it did with all the chlorine I was dumping. 😆 She’s all clean and converted to chlorine from Permasalt. A killer liquid chlorine dispenser would be pretty nice.

Ok. Ran another FAS DPD after adding chlorine and it came up to FC 4.0 and CC 0.4. Looking better I think.

Just did another fas DPS test after adding chlorine and got it to 4 FC and .4 CC So probably bump up the FC some more around right before dark? Seems with the better chlorine test it’s making more sense now.

Ok New numbers with FAS-DPD test now instead of normal drop test. Wow! What a difference. FC 3.0 CC .4 PH 7.5 CH 260 TA 115 CYA 50 Temp 91f Is this looking better?

I’ve got internet people here now. In a bit I’ll do a fasdpd test. I’m curious if I’ve been putting too much bleach in. That may explain my readings on a test that only goes to 5ppm. And at that high the red color is hard to compare.

Well I’m learning things all the time. Lol Maybe I do need to do a fas-dpd test because I may have outran the normal 5ppm testing limit of the drops in the standard tests. Possible I’m already so high. The fas-dpd would prove that out.

I my CYA is about 52-55. It comes down each time I do a small backwash/bypass to waste and refill. That algae must be some really tough stuff. My water has been sparkling crystal clear for over a week now.

I’ll consider it. The chlorine loss is substantial for such clear water now I’ve visibly gotten rid of the algae. I did the overnight test last night. At 9:30 after dark it was 2ppm free and like 1ppm total chlorine. This morning at 630 it showed no free chlorine and .5 total. Pump did not run...

It was PermaSalt. I’m unfamiliar with Pristine Blue. My copper levels are .4ppm the Permasalt chamber has been turned off. 4 days ago the copper .7ppm It will continue to drop to zero within the week. I know that much from when I had to wait for a new chamber in the mail. Thanks!!

Hello all. I’ve had this pool since July 2017. PermaSalt system has been perfect until this year. Mustard algae (looked like little sand deposits) and some greener algae under the two sets of steps. Couldn’t get rid of it. Algacide from the stores did nothing. Powdered shock did nothing...
