    Changes in Kroger Bleach

You sure they dont show the percentage? Every bottle I looked at did. As far as I remember, its only the HCF bleach that doesnt show it.

Live Oak Attack - Cloudy Water

I so feel your pain as I have the same canopy (in Cedar Park), but SLAM'n cleared it right up. And, I kept the FC way up in advance of this weekends downpour.

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

As was mentioned, the 10% Pool Essentials from WM or Lowes, or the HDX stuff from HD. Just be sure to check the dates and dont buy anything more than a few months ago.

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

At $2.59/bottle, your math is a bit off  Even with tax included, its closer to 36 bottles.

They dont care. HEB is not what they were 10-20 years ago. Profits are obviously now their top concern - not you going home a hero!

    Changes in Kroger Bleach

Yeah, they certainly did! And the operation manager from the Lakeline store tried to deny it and even suggested I purchased the wrong one. Whatever....

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Thanks, but unfortunately Ive already checked with all the pool supply companies in my area (they all only sell the 4x gallons at crazy prices) and I only found one chemical supply company - and they dont offer sodium hypochlorite ? Looks like it's Walmart or Lowes for me...

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Yeah, Im sure its the same stuff as is sold in Randalls, Walgreens, and everywhere else. But, their name is on it so I hold them accountable. Most of the HEB brand stuff is VERY good and they need to be responsible about maintaning their brand. </ $0.02>

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Yeah, its not our regular store - just one I passed on the way home. I'm kind of used to CS people assuming that I, the customer, am always wrong these days.

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Our friends at HEB - First, they claimed that (after 10 years) I "purchased the wrong bleach" (customer always right?) because the "regular bleach is 6% and the concentrated is 8.25%" So, I send them pictures of a bottle from yesterday and a bottle from two weeks ago - both say "concentrated"...

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

POOP! I just checked the bottles I bought today and they are now only 6%! That's their solution to selling too much. WTH? I need to call them tomorrow. Guess its back to the 10% stuff at WM now @ $3.64 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Pool-Essentials-Chlorinating-Liquid/48938023 New and old...

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Wow. Yeah. We had a lot before the storm as well, but then.... Monday the water looked like thick coffee. Ive never seen it this bad, though. Based on your photo, it was at least 4x worse here. I probably got two wheelbarrows worth just from my normal-sized driveway. My yard is almost solid...

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

That is more often than not the case for me as well at my primary store. You'd think after being constantly out of stock that they'd stock more...but nope. Unfortunately, bleach doesnt have a very long shelf life or I'd just stock up. Fortunately, I do have three HEBs close by :) The 8.25%...

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Oh yeah, that sucks about the Hep A in your area. Safety/health is priority # 1 for me. That is the main reason I was so anal about keeping the FC @ 4 - for the kids to swim. Green water is just about aesthetics. Blue water can be contaminated and green water can be safe. I try to stay away from...

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Yeah, the same people that spread the "no more than 4 ppm!" stuff are probably the same ones that made everone think that cedar fever comes from cedar trees. A friend of mine has a cat named "Dog". It's still a cat :)

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Nah. This place isnt public. It's like the hidden dark underworld of truth!

haha. Yeah, but did you know that "Cedar Fever" isnt even from cedar trees? :0

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Even my Taylor kit implies the FC should always be 4 or lower - with no mention of the effects of CYA. Why is the CYA relation never mentioned publicly?

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Ordered. Thanks! As for the oak pollen, not sure how you are fairing up there, but last week it all erupted here. There is probably a solid inch+ layer of catkins on everything. Ive been clearing out the jammed-packed skimmer basket 3 or 4 times a day. And it hasnt let up. Most people are...

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Thanks, but that doesnt make me feel any better. hehe Like I said, 10 years, 7 months a year, Ive been doing it all wrong. But, better late than never, huh? Keeping the FC at 10 will be easy. Keeping it below 5 and algae-free.....was mind numbing.
  22. P

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

If CYA is 0........sigh Thanks all! I certainly picked a good nickname. I'm going to go bang my head against the desk for a while........

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

"safe to swim at or below SLAM value" Really? :0 Not sure where I got it from, but I have always thought it was dangerous/toxic to swim in higher FC levels. I never let the kids swim unless it was under 5. Is that really just junk science? Ive been fighting with this for 10 years - trying to...

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Hi Kim. Thanks for the suggestion, but doesnt keeping the FC at SLAM level render the pool unswimmable (aka defeating the entire purpose of the pool)?

    Pollen Bombs go BOOM

Hi all! Living in Central Texas, we have a love/hate relationship with our pollen-exploding trees. I usually have no issues maintaining my pool numbers for months when it's hot and dry (July/Aug) - CYA around 50, FC around 4, crystal clear, 7.4 pH, etc The problem I have is any time it...
