New pool - seeking suggestions on where to go with chemistry

Latest test results FC - 1.5 CC - 0 pH - 8.0 TA - 50 CH - 200 CYA - 20 Salt - 2800 Temp - 51 CSI - -0.42 The pH keep drifting upwards which I understand is normal for a new plaster pool. Question is how long will it keep doing this? Should I keep adding acid to lower the pH? Or should I...

    Left TF100 outside

So i left my test kit outside over night and didn’t see it until the afternoon. The temp probably go into the high 30’s and the high yesterday was probably in the low 70’s. The kit got a few hours of morning sun but was otherwise in the shade. Any issues with the test kit? Thanks.

    Titan Manufacturing/palletforks.com cauldron fire pit

Haha yeah. 2” here in the SW suburb of Houston. 5” a little further north. You know i keep thinking maybe i should have bought the smaller one. The large one is near impossible to move around by even two people.

If you think about it the price they charge, IMO, is very reasonable. I mean it probably costs $100 just to ship it! I think it’s a great conversational piece too.

    A General pool discussion forum?

I am probably just confusing myself. The thing I see with "everything else" is the sub heading - Heaters, covers, lights, automation, fountains, waterfalls, brushes, leaks, etc I am probably being too literal and seeing this as still all related to equipment. While I suppose my initial example...

Don't laugh: water features during freezes

Don't laugh because I am in Houston... those in real cold weather climates might be like "freeze, what do you know about freezes"... :) So, if you have water falls and other water features, if one is to run the pump over night to prevent freeze issues, I assume I should go ahead and run the...

    A General pool discussion forum?

Perhaps a suggestion. Most of the forums are specific. There doesn't seem to be a general pool discussion? So for example: I want to ask about freeze protection, if I have water features, should I turn them on while I run the pump at night. But I am not sure where it should go... should it...

Brand New Martite Surface has blotchy floor

It's never going to be perfectly even I am afraid to say. These products have to be mixed will all the ingredients and IMO, it may never be completely even. My brand new pool has Wet Edge.. it's mixed on site. Not perfect, there are areas where it's clear there are a little less stones, but...

    It's going down for real....

Thanks Kim! I was outside working on the yard, laying down some dirt. It was fairly warm. I was very tempted to jump in. But I decided not to. Water was only 67*. Would have been too cold.

So question: PB stopped by Wednesday to replace a cracked waterline tile. How long before I can get water back to regular level?

Question about Pool Size: 80-85 ft perimeter

Jim is right... pictures are very hard to get a perspective. The hose idea is the best way to do it. The other thing to remember is, you can't make a pool bigger later on. My $0.02 worth is, depending on your back yard and what your plans are, get it as big as possible now. Oh and your...

New pool - seeking suggestions on where to go with chemistry

Marty - I will need to test the fill water again. I did test it once and captured the results - but, it was the very first time I tried the kit, and frankly I am not confident in the results. I am almost 100% certain that no CYA was added other than via the pucks. Unfortunately, I did not...

New pool - seeking suggestions on where to go with chemistry

New plaster (Wet Edge finish) pool - water has been in about 4 weeks now. I am about to take over the care of the pool. I have been testing the pool about once a week with TF-100 kit. Latest results below: FC: 2.5 CC: 0 pH: 8.2 (was 7.5 a four days prior) - I added a little muriatic acid to...

    Titan Manufacturing/palletforks.com cauldron fire pit

You know in retrospect, the smaller one is probably perfectly fine. Not sure why I bought this giant one, haha. But I think the smaller one will give you better visibility to the figure.

Yea I need to find something to keep the legs off the deck. I actually have the pot raised pretty high. Once the hook gets here, the pit will be actually pretty low. If you look at their pictures it’s almost on the ground. Not sure if I want it that way... nice thing is it’s adjustable.

Sort of random: if you have an iPhone there is an app called Prisma. It’s pretty neat. This is the comic effect.

They just suggest removing the ash. The bowl pivots so you can”easily” tip it and dump it out. I think it’s a two person job.

    Titan Manufacturing/palletforks.com cauldron fire pit

In another thread I posted that I wanted a Cowboy Cauldron fire pit in the back yard. I commented that it was silly expensive with the largest one costing north of $2,000. One night I randomly was looking for other options and came across palletforks.com. They make and sell two sizes a...

Yes, that’s what I meant to say. Everything is wired correctly. They just did not wire it into the com port. I was getting Communication lost errors.

    Connecting Pentair IC60 to EasyTouch8

Thanks Jim/James. The cell is wired into the pump relay. I talked to the PB today, the electricians failed to wire the IC60 power center into the EasyTouch. I was thinking about wiring it myself, but he said he'd take care of it.

    Connecting Pentair IC60 to EasyTouch8

In the EasyTouch without with SWCG Option there is a single com port (J20). Right now my screen logic wireless kit is plugged in to it. The instruction seems to suggest I can plug multiple things into this com port. Can anyone confirm please? Thanks.

And we're off in SE Houston

Re: And we're off in SE Houston I am in the Houston area and my PB does almost exclusively salt water pools. It's strange many others in Houston have issue with the PB wanting to do salt water pool. Good luck with the build. Just remember it's a long journey, don't get too frustrated. It's...

    It's going down for real....

The finish is Wet Edge’s satin matrix line of pebble finish. The color is North Shore Tahoe. I know my PB has done refinish work with the Wet Edge line. I suspect they remove the old layer then apply the new product. On the toughness question. I suppose it it a little stronger since it’s...

    It's going down for real....

The finish on the deck is very slightly glossy. I was hoping for a matte finish. But it doesn’t look bad. Surprisingly it isn’t slippery. Wife asked for me to send the drone up. It is really windy today. Cool front coming through.
