opening up pool and spa, drain plug questions

Hi - when I open the pool are there plugs that need to be removed from the drains? I removed the plugs from the jets, skimmer, pump, etc. all is running good. But I did not remove anything from the spa section or main drain. i can see in the spa section there are those plugs with the equal sign...

How is my built in spa section supposed to work!

Thank you. Yes, this was before I knew anything at all... Currently I have the left most Jandy open and pulling from both pipes which each go to the skimmers. The right side - never was sure what it was and actually didnt go into the spa to test the floor drains. I got the rest of the pool...

How is my built in spa section supposed to work!

Thanks, I am certain that each skimmer is on separate pipe on my pad. Not sure where the main drain is going. Makes sense what you are saying about the floor drains in the spa and the valve on the return side. I will try this all out tomorrow night. I attached a few pictures o my equipment. Not...

How is my built in spa section supposed to work!

Hi - I have a small section in the corner of my pool, that is walled off. There are 4 jets going into it and there is a valvle on the return side that lets me direct water to there, the pool or to both. There are also two drains on the floor of this spa section. In the wall of the spa there is...

Newbie - Pool Jets are not pushing out water -

Rebuilt the two suction side valves... and cleaned out the DE filter by opening it up and washing it off... Now pressure is pretty good. My 2nd jet still feels a little weak, but the pool water is clean and testing well. Vacuuming was a PITA and I did clog the line from the skimmer to the pump...

Bubbles in pump basket on filter, but not when on recirculate

I took apart the DE Filter. Holy Guacamole... I don't know what a typical dirty DE filter looks like, but this thing was plugged up beyond any normal level. I struggled to get the stuff loose and out from the inner section of the filter screens. I did it, next time might use a yardstick or...

Bubbles in pump basket on filter, but not when on recirculate

Hi - no air bubbles in pump window when the DE filter is on recirculate, but when I move it to filter, I am getting massive amounts of air into the pump basket/window. I rebuilt the jandy valves with new rings and lube... Lubed the pump window gasket. Stumped? I do think my filter is due for a...

Newbie - Pool Jets are not pushing out water -

Thanks. I got the parts... I have the original 3-way valve with the grease cup. This is what I think I have. No big loss if I ordered wrong. Price to pay to learn! Valve: #1154 Diverter: #3045 O-ring: O-158 x2 / O-248 I am going to take apart my DE filter this weekend and make sure the inside...

Newbie - Pool Jets are not pushing out water -

Update - but still looking for guidance/help. Went back to the pool last evening. Pump basket had lots of air in it... Filled a bucket and poured it over all the suction joints, nothing obvious. Took off the pump basket cover and then retightened it, which seemed to do the trick. It also...

Newbie - Pool Jets are not pushing out water -

thanks. also going to get a drain king and try to blow out the line... I ordered one from amazon, but am afraid it might pop and get stuck in the line. Going to go with the name brand one! I know I can fix it, pressure is on. Kids want to swim and season is passing by fast!

Newbie - Pool Jets are not pushing out water -

Hi - NO eyeballs were not put on in the pool jets... I saw one or two from the previous owner in a buckets, pretty beat up and not really a complete set. The first jet was pushing, but pretty weak... nothing like I would consider normal or overpowered. thanks.

Newbie - Pool Jets are not pushing out water -

Hi - new pool owner here. I really tried this weekend... got very far and feel good about my effort coming up the curve, but I am stuck. I have a pretty standard pool, concrete, two skimmer baskets, 3 return jets and the booster pump going to the vacuum robot. I have a DE filter. Jacuzzi side...

First post by Newbie - can someone explain a few things about my equipment

Ah hah! yes - referring to the third picture, I now see the two left pipes are closed off... and makes sense the main water is coming in from the right pipe and going to the pump. Not sure why those two are closed off... I will open it up. My understanding is that those should then suck from...

First post by Newbie - can someone explain a few things about my equipment

thank you, ok, I see how the valve handle works and that makes sense. The thing I mention is under the valve handles. There are 3 pipes there, but why, the upside down U and then the pipe going out to the pump... if I open/close those two valves, where is it diverting the water too? Seems like...

First post by Newbie - can someone explain a few things about my equipment

Hi there. I am a pretty handy guy, but this is my first experience with my new pool. I have a little time until i open it, as I wait for my new roof to be put on. I have a few very simple questions about my equipment (I did watch the videos on the opening process, and think I will be ok there)...
