Hi - I have a Hayward DE 4820, I am struggling (read several trips to Lowes, which is really close to my house) to find a way to get the backwash hose clamped onto this unit. The backwash port is threaded and 2", the overall external diameter is 2.5". I tried the 2" backwash hose, I tried...

Deck o seal, does it stick to itself

I am going to replace my deck o seal. I will cut out the existing seal, but little bits will remain at the edges, stuck to the concrete, is this ok? Or do I need to grind any and all speaks of the old deck o seal off. Thanks.

How to drain 25% off my pool

Was chatting with my 8 year old daughter, telling her I need to change some of the water to fix my chlorine issue... Then we got wondering, if the water level goes below the skimmer how will I get water out and to the pump? Is there a different way to drain the pool. My valves only swap over to...

    Pool tet kits

Can someone explain to me how the text kits, where you have to match the water color to the a picture are very accurate or good? Does it get down to the exact numbers or is it more general in nature. I have a digital test kit and while I like the readout being a number, it really not great very...

My pool water is starting to go off the rails!!!

thank you all. makes a lot more sense now and seems I was using the wrong Chlorine for weekly maintenance. I will make the adjustment and use the trichlor only when/if I need to get my stabilizer up, otherwise I will use the unstabilized chlorine.

My pool water is starting to go off the rails!!!

when I search Bleach, all I get is Clorox... when I search Chlorine, I mainly see the tabs the pool store by me is Leslies (and I know people are not big fans of them). I have not had to use them. I did find this - but am sure there is a better source and Lowes Shop Pool Essentials 1-Gallon...

My pool water is starting to go off the rails!!!

I know you live by this SLAM process, but I don't have that much algae... really wonder why a round of shock and algeacide 60 won't know it out. seems odd. - - - Updated - - - Also - I suppose what confuses me, is that Liquid chlorine is not stabilized, so won't it just burn away really fast...

My pool water is starting to go off the rails!!!

so stop using Trichlor, what should I use for general Chlorine - on a day to day basis. Getting pretty confused now. I don't see that they make Cal Hypo pucks.

My pool water is starting to go off the rails!!!

what are my other options vs using the Trichlor pucks which increase my CYA. Might have to do it now, but the ideal of draining half my pool and refilling from my well is NOT appealing to me at all. I had a green swamp in the pool, the 4lbs of shock cleared it up. My small bit of algae this...

Pool reno / replastering & coping in North New Jersey

Here are some pics of my pad! Well broken in, just the way I like it! Pool reno / replastering & coping in North New Jersey

Hi - ahhh, my new pool... works great, but the plaster is nearing the end of its life. Pool itself is just stained and pitted, but the spa section is delaminating and hollowed (so I definitely think this was repaired at one point and the bond coat/adhesion was not great). Pool is NOT leaking...

Identify what pipe/connection parts these are

yes, i think it has a blue disc... when i open the valve at the pump, all the way, i feel like the vac robot is sometimes floating too much. not stuck sucked to the floor. Thank you... Awesome support. - - - Updated - - - One additional question... what damage will I do if that pool vac valve is closed and the pump does go on? Hey - I already forgot once... I could leave that valve open all the time (even if i am not going to run the vac for a few days), but...

Identify what pipe/connection parts these are

Hi - happy to say this site has gotten me so far. Pool is running great. Kids are having a blast. I've done everything myself (wife helped pull the cover off and fold it)... Graduated to the Water Balancing section - FCL is high

thanks. I think the test kit is pretty accurate. I am quite shocked since everywhere I read it says that FCL should be between 1-3ppm, but this chart starts at 3+. I do think it makes perfect sense though. Regarding the CH, yes, I agree it is low. I am using Trichlor pucks, I think those...
