Help with identifying the cause of suction side leak

Hi Kory. Where does the other side of your 3way suck water from? If your pump is 12 in. below water level, a leak should be obvious. Lastly, did you replace the total guts of the valve, including the valve cover? - - - Updated - - - Sorry, wrong name, correct topic, LOL - - - Updated - - -...

    Heater bypass question

Obviously, your pool sharp. Based on experience when I lived back East, I had some customers that set up their plumbing to bypass their heater. I would recommend 3 way Jandy valves, and would winterize the heater including the gas line. A cover for the heater would be optional.

Need new pump for IG pool. Will pump for AG pool work ok?

Your question is not clear to me. The whisperflo is a good pump so to replace the motor is a goo dc option. The seal and plate gasket must be replaced. You did not say what kind of pump is on the ag pool?

    Heater bypass question

Yes, you can bypass the heater with valves. But the real issue is why are you getting copper in your pool? It is probably your heater, it is a copper exchanger. Is your ph in line? Is it low? Low ph will erode copper from your heater and stain your pool. Things like chlorine pucks in the...

Re: Help with multiport valve and spider gasket You should also only turn the multiport valve when the pool pump is off.

Sundance Spa - circ pump works, heater works but Jets will not work

Did you check the power to the motor at the lugs on the PC board or at the back of the motor? Make sure that you know whether the motor is 110v or 220v.

Replace Heater Or Just Heater Element

How gifted are you mechanically? I'm a pool and spa repair guy so I don't think it is that hard but replacing the element us easy but time consuming. Better the element than a new spa unless is really old.

dirty, cloudy spa water when heat is turned on

Does this happen if you turn pool on first and then go to spa mode or you go out and turn spa on first? It always helps to know whether this is a spa or pool condition with your pool. I don't believe it is heater related.

(Total noob) skimmer and drain issues

It is an old time diverter valve that rotates to suck water from the main drain. You need to loosten it if you want main drain action. It's a pug in, it's not threaded in. How old is your pool?

Need Expert Advice on Replacing Water Feature Pump in Brand New Build

Just my ten cents but you could adjust the cam in the actuator along with the two valves so that the flow is fairly constant. Might not help but it does give you another option.

    Stain Removal-Acid Wash Questions???

The way you dealt with the spa stains is exactly right. Muriatic acid is the best for stain removal yes, its okay to walk inside the pool but be careful not to leave footprints. Also, do not let any acid roll down the pool walls that will cause streaking. Liberal use of a hose and a submersible...

    DE entering pool

At this point. I would not be concerned. If that is the only time it happens, I've seen that many times. If it gets worse at all, however, I would definitely inspect the grids and manifold.

    Wallside Return Height

I ground cleaning systems are fairly troublesome, plus they do not pick up large debris. The size of your main drain grates is the determined. I think not having any returns at 12in will certainly affect your skimming efficiency.

    Main drain

Sorry, did not get your answer as to the amount of de that you added to your filter. The actual mfg dosage is 1lb if de for every 10 sq feet of filter area which would be 4.8 lbs of de.

    Sediment Problems

Probably if your laterals were broken, then sand will return to pool I would check for the spider gasket in the backwash valve, some type of channeling in the sand, and then the laterals last, because that requires you to remove all of the sand.

Replacement System for Sta-Rite system 3 w/ cartridge filters

Hi Sandy. Bama is right. That filter is a good one. Just replace the cartridges. I used to live in the SFV also. A VSP is the way to go, and except for the piping around the pump, the rest of the plumbing should be sufficient There are lots of pool companies around Granada Hills. Shop around...

    Wayword Sand pump questions

Hi Nia. Wel, if your pump is lower than the skimmer, then the pump pot will always have water in it, and its called a flooded system. So basically you can't take the lid off at all, because water will gush out and getting that lid back on will be tough. Most ag pool owners will add a shutoff...

Waterway Catridge Filter Humming Sound and Small Pump leak?

I'm looking at your video more closely. It could be that the water is dripping from that union. If so, either tightening it up, a new o ring, or Teflon tape will fix that. As to the seal, yeah, seals can fail from many factors. As to the noise, I'm reacting to your video and sound. It sounds...

Waterway Catridge Filter Humming Sound and Small Pump leak?

Hi bgkob and welcome. The noise you hear is from your motor. The leak is from the seal in the pump of which the motor is connected to. Sadly, what has happened to you is that the leaking seal has allowed water to ruin the front bearing in your motor, which is causing the grinding noise. Unless...
