    CYA and Chlorine levels

As your CYA concentration rises there will be more protection from the sun - less Chlorine will be consumed by the sun. If you leave your salt cell run-time or percentage the same you could see FC rise as you don't need to produce as much chlorine with the added protection.

Sweet, I have a solar cover!

I can usually swim laps into October and have swam in November a few times - I've kept a solar cover on it 24/7 for years. I'm seriously considering getting a wetsuit this year to extend the season.

Newbie, but I'll give it a shot!

Test as often as you can and add liquid chlorine each time you test to bring fc up to SLAM levels. If you are testing during the day go ahead and add chlorine. If your CYA is 65 your SLAM level is is pretty high - follow the Chlorine / CYA Chart. Double check your CYA. Try to keep the FC at...

    Pump making loud noise

Make sure the pump is off. Take off the cover for the capacitor. Take a picture of the information written on the capacitor - hopefully you won't have to turn it to see the info. Be careful, even though the pump is off the capacitor may still have a charge. TFP Wiki: Pump Capacitors - Further...

First test results with K-2006. Now what should I do :-)

Your pool is 9246 gallons. Water is 8.3 pounds per gallon so you have 79793 pounds of water. 1 ppm would be 79793 divided by 1000000 or .079793 pounds. Looks like you SWCG produces 3.18 pounds per day ... .079793 / 3.18 = 2.5% for 24 hours will give you 1ppm of chlorine. What @chiefwej said

First test results with K-2006. Now what should I do :-)

If you have a feel for how many ppm the pool uses/consumes per day, use that to find a starting point for an initial setting for the cel. If you don't know a good guess would be 1-2 ppm per day. Just be sure to test daily to see if it is steady or trending up or down.

Use something like AeroKroil or PB Blaster on that bolt/insert to try to free it up.

    Converting Trichlor to Liquid Chlorine

I want to remember that the injector/duckbill/check valve was included with the price of the 100 psi. I remember having a strong sentiment of not wanting it to backfeed into the barrel.

    Converting Trichlor to Liquid Chlorine

Depends on the pressure where you inject it. I went with the 100 but I didn't need it. I've had my stenner for 2+ years and I have to say I've been thinking about getting a swcg. Up front Cost is holding me back.

I also didn't like the variable stenner - seemed like there was more to go wrong.

    Converting Trichlor to Liquid Chlorine

I have Stenner 5 gallon per day Pump. It works out close to 1 ppm per hour for my pool, 23k gallons, so I can easily vary its run time to accommodate most situations. I'm using This timer to control it.

You can download whiperflo manuals at the Pentair website. The manual has nice exploded parts diagrams so you can see how it all goes together and some basic instructions for taking it apart. First test results with K-2006. Now what should I do :-)

With an fc of 9 and cya of 52ish, it's OK to swim - you have enough fc to sanitize the water. As for the SLAM, take some time to read through ABC's of Pool Water Chemistry and other articles in the Pool School

First test results with K-2006. Now what should I do :-)

Your combined chlorine value indicates you need to SLAM. You should adjust your ph down first because tests are not reliable at high fc concentrations. You should consider getting the PoolMath app so you can keep track of your efforts. You can use the old PoolMath calculator for now to help...

    Search PoolMath logs

Generally: I use Notes a lot, I'd like to search them for past occurrences of things I put in notes. I imagine being able to filter and display only notes or only chemical additions would suffice. I can search my logs here pretty easily but it would be nice to do it out by the pool while using...

    Pool Nube ( Phosphates )

The pool volume in your PoolMath logs is quite a bit different than in your signature, make sure you have it correct in PoolMath. If I have a sense of how much will be lost overnight I try to make sure the chlorine level is high enough in the evening so that by morning it is still at SLAM...

    Pool Nube ( Phosphates )

I usually wait till the next day to test after adding cya - usually subsequent tests are the same. If you are confident that your volume is close you should trust the pool math calcs. Be sure to log your chemical additions in pool math it helps to be able to look at what you did when

New to solar cover, no reel yet, a few questions

We leave ours on except when swimming, then we just bunch it up (fan fold it) on the deck. Sometimes we only pull enough off for a quick dip or a few laps. On occasion we have cut iit n three peices to make it easier to get off or just pull one piece off. Never had a reel, 30+ years, but an...
