Tried to deep clean my sand filter first time ever....think I messed up bad :( What are my options

I would transfer it from the filter to a bin or a tub the do-the-deepclean in the tub before puting it back. Do you have a wheelbarrow or a yard cart to get the sand out of the shed? I took my sand out by hand and it really wasn't that bad, a bit tedious. I think a shop vac would work, if it...

    Please help me!

Since you don't want to refill this late in the year, maybe see if you can put your vacuum head near the center of it and let it run, sucking it out to waste. Then maybe you can get a free refill over the winter when it rains. But unless you keep your free chlorine at a sufficient level you...

    Please help me!

Is it floating or on the bottom? If it is floating dead algae your filter should eventually take care of it. If it is on the bottom try vacuuming it up - maybe vacuum to waste instead of through the filter, which will help with the high CYA when you refill.. If your CYA is that high you need...

    Do robots supplant vacuuming?

Sorry, I was using that as an example of an abnormally large accumulation of sediment.

    Do robots supplant vacuuming?

It seems that robots with the ultra fine filters handle routine vacuuming - is this pretty much true? Also, Say you treat for phosphates with PR10000 will they handle cleaning up that sediment?

New fill Fiberglass pool what to add

Use the Effects of adding chemicals section of the PoolMath app to find out how much liquid chlorine needed to bring your FC up to about 5 ppm, probably 1/2 gallon of 10% liquid chlorine, then add that. Maintain that 5 ppm while reading through that pool care basics link and waiting to get your...

HELP!! New pool owner here, I need reassurance...

As long as I was looking at the correct manual; those indications tell me that the cel is OFF when the pump is OFF - when you turn the pump on you see the correct indications for the cel starting up and when you turn the pump off the LCD screen being blank conforms to the cel being OFF. The...

HELP!! New pool owner here, I need reassurance...

If all power to the unit is off when you turn-the-pump-off then I wouldn't expect to see ANY indications. If you don't want to wait for someone here, that has a similar setup, to respond you should probably try to get ahold of Jandy support. I assume you don't want to try to trace the wiring...

Doheny's cartridge filter feedback / review

If you can find a manual for the Doheny's filter it might include some dimensions then you could compare it to your valve/ filter dimensions. I'm having a hard time finding a manual for that filter.

    Third time testing chemicals

So you lost about 1-1/2 ppm each day. Before you leave add an extra 5 ppm for the three days you will be gone and maybe 2 more for peace of mind - so an extra 7 ppm. Going over the FC target is OK as long as you don't go crazy...

    Third time testing chemicals

Do you have a feel for how many ppm of FC you are losing each day? How often are you adding chlorine and how much? If you are losing 2-3 ppm per day then you need to add say 9 ppm for the three days you will be gone and maybe a little more to give you some extra margin...

Undersized Pool Solar...Is it worth it?

With regard to the solar cover: I don't find it onerous to remove it but then I've been doing it for 30+ years, cutting it in pieces helps a lot; never tried a reel for it. I currently experience a two degree drop overnight with temps in the high 40's - this cover is the thinnest and on its...

Purchasing our very first pool (with a house)

I'm in a similar winter climate I've never closed my pool, I just keep the debris out and keep FC and pH in check. Chlorine demand is very low in the winter months. If overnight Temps are going to dip below freezing, I run the pump overnight to keep that warm water circulating through the...

Reading the recommendations on TFP makes me concerned pool care is too difficult.

I don't know exactly what happened this year but I was behind-the-curve keeping my FC at a stable ppm, I suspect I was getting varying strength LC. So I just dumped in enough to have a 3-4 ppm buffer above the max target value, then I didn't have to worry that I would go below target - I haven't...

Taste of a salt water pool

FWIW, I can taste the salt this year in my LC pool, I got curious and don't have a salt test kit so ##### warning if you are faint of heart STOP reading #### I went to the pool store and they said I have ~1900 ppm salt - they were confused and said "I wonder where it came from" a couple of...
