The hardest part of doing it yourself is finding the subs willing to do the work for you. If you do it during the off season they might be hungry enough to work for you. Care to show us you are working with?

There is. A couple of down sides to using it. Cost, can make it slippery, has to be redone at least every other year. If you are still interesting I will ping someone who can help with selection.

I got a white plastic plate (dollar tree) so I can hold it up behind the test. That helped me a lot to see the color to match it up. You can use a piece of paper instead. I like the plate is is easy to hold and just keep it under my test kit.

For inside the skimmer look for a hole on the side of the skimmer. Is there any thing right at the level the water lowers to like a light or return?
