    Monitoring CircuPool RJ Plus SWCG

Two years ago, I installed CircuPool RJ-60 SWCG in my pool. Now the third season is passing without any problems. It’s been a reliable and high-performance device. Last year I replaced my single speed Jandy pump with B&D 3HP VSP and added a Raspberry Pi pool controller of my own design running...

    Tips on Blowing line out

If you have a mesh cover, even a heavy duty one like ours, it’s not a big deal to do the closing, provided you have a single pair of helping hands. The key is to detach springs from the cover when opening the pool. When closing, two people, one on each side of the cover, just slowly pull it...

    Black & Decker VS pump

I went with B&D 3HP from poolpartstogo 2 years ago and my experience with the company responsiveness was great. When the pump developed a slight noise after 2 months, they sent me a new one within 48 hours. This season, when the mechanical seal started leaking, they sent the complete kit. Now, I...

Can you use swg in above ground pools?

That's not true. You can search this forum and you will get a multitude of threads discussing a "SWG for AGP" subject. A salt water chlorine generator for AGP is the same for IG and AGP pools.

New SWG install - late in the season

What you see in the chart is the supply AC current, specifically RMS values, which can be used directly for calculating power usage. The RJ-60 is basically a black box which does not provide any access to its internals. So measuring the supply AC current is the only thing I could do. The...

O-ring lubrification and cartridge filter lid popping off

Use silicone grease. Petroleum based grease will damage the rubber o- ring. I’m not aware of when silicone grease could harm your equipment.

New SWG install - late in the season

Answering the OP's question about the power drawn by RJ-60... To monitor the SWCG, I installed a current transducer in the electrical subpanel and added code to my pool controller to measure and chart the current: In the diagram, RJ-60 was turned on at 8am and off at 8pm. The duty cycle (SWCG...

Polaris 280 Problems - Booster Pump Issue?

Detach the Polaris quick disconnect and check with your hand if the water flow is good. Also, pull out the cleaner and make sure the wheels are properly engaged. How long do you run your Polaris per day? It’s the third season, it should still be in good condition. Since the booster is...

    New Pool Mesh Cover Questions

If the water doesn't freeze. If it does, the flow needs to be re-initialized after thawing. Perhaps the gradient is too small in my backyard... I'm kind of reluctant to suck the hose... :p

    New Pool Mesh Cover Questions

If the surrounding terrain has a sufficient gradient away from the pool you can syphon the water with a length of a garden hose. It requires a submersible pump just to initiate the flow and then the pump can be detached from the hose. That's what I do. I have to repeat this several times during...

Ran out of DE..1 lb short..okay to add later?

If a pool is algae free, maintaining a DE filter is easy. I open my DEV 60 at the end of the season, pull out the grids assembly, hose it down and put back into the tank. In the spring I do a single backwashing after a week of running the filter. That’s it. At my VSP speeds the 60 psi Jandy...

Is it necessary to blow out air from main drain? Closing pool without main drain shut off valve

I depend on air lock. Basically, I blow the skimmer lines first and close them with plugs. Then I blow the drain line and close the Jandy valve.

Peristaltic (such as Stenner) pump? Are you sure it’s actually pushing chlorine?

    Just home from vacation

No, the strength cannot be 100%. Usually, it's between 6 and 12.5%, the rest is water. The stronger it is, the faster it looses potency, especially in high temperatures. It's important therefore to check the production date, usually encoded as yy ddd, where yy is the last 2 digits of the year...

    Options for continual Chlorination?

I was one of them: After 2 seasons I had enough, it was too much effort to hunt for and lug bottles of chlorine to fill the blue barrel. Also, dangerous - always checking this 1/4 inch plastic line injecting chlorine into the return pipe. It shoots chlorine 2 yards into the air if cracked...

    CircuPool RJ-45+ winter storage

I wouldn’t put a solid plastic bag over the controller - water condensation may hurt it. It’s a good idea to bring it home for the winter. The last winter I left it at the pad, but put the pool cover’s mesh bag over the whole stand. And of course, replaced the cell with a dummy one.

    SWG output recommendations

The skimming action (the speed of the top layer of water in the vicinity of skimmers) is more effective at higher pump speed. Leaves are more likely to be drawn into the skimmers instead of circling around the pool. I do this periodically, 15 minutes every 2 hours. In my case the speed increase...

Installing sun sail post in concrete

    Time for a new TV...advice/recommendations

It’s really about your viewing habits. Our 75” Sony x950h is on at least 8 hours a day. Pool company says this is "normal" sometimes

You have SWCG - the bubbles you see is hydrogen gas produced by the cell. In my pool the bubbles come from one return only as well - the one which is closer to the pump.
