Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

Ah, understood, apologies. Yep I think the European one is different. The air bleed is actually closed in that video but open or closed makes no difference (other than a little water gets out when it's open as the jets of water spray out from the diffuser). Either way, it doesn't fill up with...

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

I'm an old guy, never posted to youtube but I'll try and figure it out! Stay tuned! Edited to add: looks like the onedrive link worked? Let me know if I still need to figure out the youtube thing.

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

Ah yes, great point. We've been refurbing a very old pool, we put in a new liner and paving etc last year and this year we stripped everything out of the pool equipment shed to rebuild its floor, so the old filter, pump, and pipework alll had to come out. We decided, given that the old pump's...

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

Not sure how to post a video on here, does this work? IMG_5399.MOV If it does and you can see the video, it basically just does that, water sprays out of the top diffuser, but the filter water level doesn't rise and the filter doesn't fill with water.

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

I'm likely not being very clear in explaining things. The guy did the install a little under two weeks ago. When he left it was up and running OK, just a bit of air getting into the pool inlet which I assumed to be because the pool water level was low and the skimmer was starting to suck air...

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

Yes, that's exactly right. It was a long-ish backwash, because I don't think the guy rinsed or anything when he did the install so it was cloudy and full of gunk for quite a while. Also, the lengthy backwash and rinse dropped the wster level in the pool quite a bit so I had to close the...

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

Thanks for that detailed reply, really appreciated. I just bled all the air out of it, and tried again - multiport set to Filter and pump switched on. Again, fountains of water coming out the holes in the top (diffuser) but after running for 15-20 minutes the filter is still not filling up...

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

OK still plugging away trying to figure this out! I hope you don't mind if I ask a couple more questions? 1) If I were newly installing one of these 24" TR60 filters, how long would it typically take to fill with water from empty? And would you pre-fill it some of the way with water from a...

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

OK, one random question: would opening the bleed valve without the pump running cause the water level in the filter to fall further... because that's definitely one thing we've done (obsessed with the need to relieve the pressure, thanks to that pool guy). And if the water level has got *very*...

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

Can't see a model number anywhere on it, but it looks correct and seems to be plumbed right.

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

Don't think there's anything blocking flow *to* the pump, it primes immediately and there's no air visible. I do increasingly wonder if there could be some debris in the multiport. Not keen to open it up though, given it's brand new, but maybe it'll come to that!

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

Pretty sure it's the correct multiport, it came with the filter (it's 1.5" as it's a 24" filter TR60). I don't *think* the inlet and outlet ports are plumbed the wrong way around, so far as I can tell - but I spoke to someone else that also asked that question, which is interesting. In the...

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

I'd hoped it would be pretty basic - those Triton filters seem to be pretty much the standard filter! I'm just second-guessing everything that guy did now! I replaced the spider gasket on the old multiport a couple of years ago; this stuff I have now (filter, multiport, pump, everything) is...

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

Ah, thanks, i wonder if it isn't fitted right - or maybe got dislodged or blocked up during that backwash? Sadly might be time to call someone that knows what they're doing. Bit out of my depth here!

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

Well it doesn't look exactly the same, and I wouldn't be surprised if he hasn't installed things right, but there is something similar and it does look exactly like the image on Pentair's website. I mean, I'm not saying it's installed right... but it doesn't look obviously wrong.

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

The multiport is set on "filter" - but funny you should ask because I did wonder about whether some crud had got in there or something and it wasn't quite seated right. I thought about stepping through the "backwash" > "rinse" positions again to see it that sorted it but there seems so little...

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

Before this backwash, it was completely fine, but now there's a lot of air coming into the pool from the inlet (I guess expected given the filter seems to have very little water in it!)

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

Thanks guys. Unfortunately opening the bleed valve seems to make little difference - air comes out for sure but seemingly for ever, and the water level in the filter still never reaches the plastic circle with holes in it, water just sprays through those holes like a fountain but the water level...

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

Thanks folks. Haven't fitted them yet (as you spotted!), but I do now have all the right parts - the supplier of the equipment was as awesome as the installer was terrible, and has sent me the complete set of missing parts. I haven't fitted them yet because I don't want to mess anything up, and...

Help! Problem with new filter after backwash

So not only did the oddball installer guy not fit the pressure gauge to our new Triton TR60 filter (per my previous thread), but I don't think he backwashed it initially either (and a fair amount of debris was evidently in the pipes and went into the filter) and now (a week after the install)...
