To close the loop, here is the after photo after I pressure washed it and let it dry for a day out of the pool

    Algae under pool ladder steps

Thanks, but I imagine that if you clean it at closing, and take it out for the winter, which I do, then you probably have nothing to clean at opening.

    Algae under pool ladder steps

Yesterday I noticed that I have green algae in the nooks under my pool ladder steps. There is also a bit of green algae in my pool light fixtures. I have a SWCG and my pool water is clear and chemical levels are good (FC is 6, CC is 0, CYA is 60, pH is 7.5, TA is 80). There are some older...

Jandy 1400 SWCG no error code, not producing chlorine

Did you try pushing the Up arrow to increase the production rate? That is the way that you turn it on. It should go up by 5% on each push.

Order from TFTestkits.net into Canada (Step-by-Step)

Agreed, I will probably have it shipped to my house. There are several places in the Toronto suburbs, but traffic in Toronto is terrible and I take the train from my house to the office on M-Th. If they had a spot in the downtown core it would be very convenient for me and the tens (or...

Scrolling issue in TFP forums in browser?

Exactly - this is pretty much what I see. On pages with lists of forums I see this behaviour - like on Forum list or on the pages for the individual forums. Once you break out of the sticky area at the top it seems to work ok.

Order from TFTestkits.net into Canada (Step-by-Step)

Shippsy doesn't work for me. I work in downtown Toronto and live in Scarborough. I could go to Pickering on weekends but they are only open M-F. I don't understand why they don't have a downtown location.

Scrolling issue in TFP forums in browser?

Good to hear that others have this issue as well - this is likely a bug with the forum software Xenforo and/or Chrome.

Phase out of gas pool heaters in CA

A lot of places don't use much, if any, fossil fuels to generate electricity. The province of Quebec, for example. I live in Ontario and the vast majority of our electricity is generated by hydro and nuclear. Gas is used for peaking, etc. Solar and wind are now cheaper than gas plants, for...

Scrolling issue in TFP forums in browser?

This issue occurs on my PC running Windows 10 with the Chrome browser. When I try to scroll down in TFP forums using the scroll wheel on my mouse it doesn't scroll properly. It often jumps around and comes back to the top. I haven't seen this behaviour in other web sites. Anyone else see this?

Pool Math app Suggestion - for making switching pools easier

See this screenshot from the Amazon app where I have circled in red. You can click on the postal code (I am in Canada) to change your delivery address with Amazon. With PoolMath you could click on the name, "Spa" in my screenshot below and it would bring up a list of your pools.

Jandy 1400 SWCG no error code, not producing chlorine

Try gathering water right from the return jet while the cell shows that it is producing chlorine. You should see a higher FC level if it is working. Make sure you test with a proper kit rather than test strips.

Pool Math app Suggestion - for making switching pools easier

I use the Pool Math app to keep track of results for both my pool and spa. So I use the Switch pools feature to switch between them. Can I suggest that rather than have to hit the hamburger icon and then switch pools that you be able to switch by tapping at the pool name at the top of the...

    Fixing coping

Thanks. Reading other threads on similar topics it talks about making mortar that is the consistency of cookie dough so that it doesn't ooze out too much. Does that make sense? Good Idea on the floating a tarp - I will use that or even something like a flutterboard to catch anything that...

    Fixing coping

I finally want to get around to fixing a piece of coping that broke off three years ago that I posted about here: Corner coping piece has become dislodged One question about the mortar - once I spread the mortar how do I keep it from oozing out? Or will that not happen if I mix the mortar to...

Phase out of gas pool heaters in CA

According to the chart I posted in the evening they are using batteries and large hydro. But I don't know what it means that they have more hydro generation overnight than during the day. Perhaps it is storage.

Chlorine/Cyanuric Acid Ratio Recommendations for SWG Pools

@JoyfulNoise - Would the testing that you call for also have to take into the account the local climate? Would the conclusions possibly be different for you in Tucson, vs me in Toronto?

Chlorine/Cyanuric Acid Ratio Recommendations for SWG Pools

I agree. I normally keep the cover on during the week as we typically only swim on weekends but I left it off this week since I won't need it to keep the water at 84. And it is nice to go for a spontaneous dip when it is this hot.

Chlorine/Cyanuric Acid Ratio Recommendations for SWG Pools

Thanks - I have so far gone with the latter strategy - my CYA is about 50 and FC 6. I have been meaning to get the CYA up a bit higher but haven't been to the pool store in a while since I added the last dose of CYA.

    Alkalinity and PH problems

Me too - If I want my pH to be below 8 then my TA will be below 50. If I add baking soda to increase TA then pH goes above 8. I add some MA to bring down pH and TA drops down to 30-40. But everything seems fine like that. And I have seen many threads both here and other places of people...

    Aiper Scuba S1 Review

But is this any different than a Dolphin? Or are the brushes different? Initially I didn't put my Dolphin in when the pool was covered but after seeing people on TFP saying that it wasn't an issue I started to put it in. They only issue I have is that there were a few long strings where the...

    SLAM necessary when Opening?

After my pool clears up after opening (I am in Toronto as well) I run the pump much less. I am on ULO pricing with Toronto Hydro so my overnight electricity is WAY cheaper so I run the pump from 11pm to noon.
