Cold front coming = Frozen chemicals

Cool. Our house smells like a pickle factory during the growing season. I can take or leave pickles but the wife LOVES them.

    Home warranty questions

Two house ago it came with a warranty from the previous owner. My AC unit bit the dust and the company who came out to look at it under the warranty spoke the right words to have coverage refused. Of course, they offered to provide estimates for a new furnace and AC. I did get new units but not...

    New Fiberglass Pool owner

Add LC while the pump is running. Retest after 5-10 minutes. Once FC level is where you need it to be add MA and retest after 30 min. There’s no need to wait for a day.

What did you do to your pool today?

Started reading different threads regarding hard plumbing with PVC. I have a new pump and filter so I figured I may as well bury the plumbing. Learned a few things so it pays to start early with plans. It won’t be anything extravagant but I no longer wish to trim around hoses and/or pipes.

What did you do to your pool today?

I picked one up myself and will install in the spring. This year will be my first solar cover so thought I’d keep it off the ground. My older bones will enjoy the warmer water. 🙃

It’s not feet of snow, but it’s plenty for out here. 10” Sunday and another inch today. Drifts everywhere from the wind.

Two Different pH Test Blocks, Two Different Readings

This is confusing for me. I see both samples as being the same color. 7.2 in the upper block is yellow to me, not orange. 7.2 in the lower block is orange, same as the sample. I’m seeing it exactly as the OP. Since I recently purchased a TF Pro Salt this thread is relevant to me. I’m not...

Instead of sand bags you can recycle plastic gallon jugs and fill them about half full and evenly space them.

    Testing CYA

It’s one of the toughest tests and at best is never completely accurate. It’s particularly difficult to get the same reading at different times of the year, or even during different times of day. If you have a significantly lower water level through evaporation the reading could be nominally...

Chlorine consumption during winter seems to be increasing.

A SWCG isn’t necessary, but once you use one you’ll never use anything else. Considering the price of a pool build a SWCG is peanuts and actually pays for itself.

    South African Pool Test Kit

I searched earlier and there are plenty of pool stores in the Cape Town area. Their websites were scant on details, though. Might be a good idea to call around and ask what they offer and research the results.

What did you do to your pool today?

You certainly get full sunshine there. I had family that lived in Pacheco and it’s nothing but all day sun outside of winter. What’s the weather like? It was beautiful yesterday, is beautiful today, and will be beautiful tomorrow. 😉

    Wind blew our pool over

I found it better to fold it into thirds as best you can then roll it. Don’t try to roll it too tightly as you’ll have to mash it to get air out of the way. You’ll find it won’t be as flexible as it was when brand new. UV takes a toll, and I believe your neck of the woods is a high UV area.
