How high do you let CH go?

I still need to actually test the fill water. I just did a quick look from the city water reports. I do have a water softener on the house so I’ll have to look into running a line to the autofill - seems to be the best solution.

Any concerns about pools popping out here?

How high do you let CH go?

In Phoenix and our water is very hard which means high CH. I’ve been lazy all winter about keeping logs but CH is nearing 1000 ppm. Phoenix CCR has fill water hardness anywhere from 150-350. Pool was just built, and filled, November 2023 so about a year and a half with the same water. How high...

App kept saying it was syncing. Finally opened and now there’s no record of my pool

What the title says. Spent a few minutes saying syncing while I opened the app. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Opened it again to the same syncing screen. Once it finally loaded it’s asking me to set up a new pool and has no record of my existing pool.

    Calcium hardness

I keep running into a fading endpoint with the calcium hardness test. I’ve tried both methods the site suggests of adding the R-0012 drops first and the distilled water method. Both seem to still produce a purple color before it turns blue. The fact that I’m in Phoenix leaves me no doubt my...

    RJ45+ control module hum/whine

Turned off my RJ45+ overnight. Went to turn it on this morning and the control module was making an unusual, loud humming/whining noise. Turned it off and back on and it still made the noise. Tried off/on once more and the humming has seemed to subside. Anyone experience anything like this...

Different recommendations for quantity to add

I would have to go in and manually change that in another field which I haven’t done.

Different recommendations for quantity to add

Looking for some help here. All values and chemical selections remain the same in the pool math app. I’m getting different suggestions on quantities to add. If I go into Ph initially the 14.5% acid is defaulted (which is what I’m using). I get one suggestion of amount to add at 66oz. If I...

Salt loss - does anyone in the Southwest ADD salt?

Phoenix area. Using a Taylor test kit, salt was 3200 about two months ago. Just tested today (yesterday I tested without smart stir and got 2800) with the smart stir and I’m at 2600. No water softener on fill water but I do need to test fill salt levels. We’ve had about 8 people over twice for...

Cracks in grout, weird white stuff - help!

I’m surprised scale would form that fast (8 months) especially with CSI being < .6 I’m curious, is it normal to see scale form higher than the waterline? I feel like I’m always adding MA as it seems PH is what’s throwing CSI off with the new plaster but I guess I’ll just need to test more...

Cracks in grout, weird white stuff - help!

Pool was completed August 2023. PebbleTec came out and made the PB redo the pebble sheen in November 2023 so it’s been maintained since then by ourselves aside from the start up company the PB made come out initially. Anyways, today, I noticed a very small piece of missing grout where the...

Added CYA not showing up 48 hours later

6 days later and CYA still reads around 50. I must not have been reading my prior CYA test correctly because I would think I’d see a higher number by now. Again, I had soaked the CYA in a sock in the skimmer then took it out and dangled it in front of a return while I squeezed it out. Pump runs...

Added CYA not showing up 48 hours later

Been spending a lot of time with number 1 this week. If CYA could show up to the test party that’d be great. Haven’t had algae since the pool was filled thanks to you all and want to keep it that way.

Added CYA not showing up 48 hours later

I was adding about 3-4ppm per day of liquid chlorine. But the temps have ramped up fast this week. Pool is mostly in the sun with some partial afternoon shade so I guess that isn’t unreasonable. I’ll bump up the RJ to 30 and see if we get back on track. Added the CYA using a sock. Let the sock...

Added CYA not showing up 48 hours later

I’ve been working on getting the new SWG up and dialed in this week. Needed to add CYA to raise to 70. 2 days ago I added 27 oz of the Clorox Chlorine Stabilizer. Undershot a few ounces of what pool math said just to account for any testing user error. Easier to fix under than over. Pump has...

Hydrogen bubble in cell - potential explosion?

The cell is wired directly to the pump breaker and am running the pump 24/7. Didn’t install a timer since I plan to run all day.

Hydrogen bubble in cell - potential explosion?

Almost 36 hours after SWG install and the build up of a hydrogen bubble in the RJ45+ still remains. It disappears when the SWG is off or at higher speeds. I’ve been running 24/7 mostly at 1200 rpm with two 15 minute intervals of 1900 rpm. Cell gets afternoon sun. I’m worried about the build up...

    RJ45+ questions on flow

Don’t have a suction gauge currently. Filter pressure was roughly the same around 6 at 1200 rpm. Now at 7. PVC was extended some for install. I just replied to the comment above so I’m thinking some of it was user error. However I’m curious now why I only saw 13psi on the max speed. Definitely...

    RJ45+ questions on flow

Called Discount Salt Pools this morning and apparently the flickering no flow light is normal for about a minute when the system is powering on or the pump is starting up. This does align to my only seeing the flickering no flow for about a minute and then the generate light turns on. I’m...

    RJ45+ questions on flow

Maybe I’m not running it long enough to get up to full psi? Just ran it a quick minute to test. Filter does go to 0 when the pump is off. Nothing changes when gauge is tapped. I’ve turned off the pump and removed the basket to check the impeller with my hand and nothing I can feel clogging it...

    RJ45+ questions on flow

Thanks so much for your detailed response. You all are the best here. Filter psi is 7. All plumbing is 2”. Pump to water is about 12ft. 4 returns but unsure of eye size. Flow switch arrows point towards pool. As for question 3, the timer, if I install an Intermatic, wouldn’t I have to leave...

    RJ45+ questions on flow

Not too worried about skimming for my purposes as I use a Betta surface skimmer. I just want to run as low as possible for electricity savings. Ran at 2800rpm for an hour while the vacuum was going and the air bubble did disappear. Turned it back down to 1200rpm for the last 90 minutes and the...

    RJ45+ questions on flow

Finally got the RJ45+ installed and said goodbye to jugs. A little messy but we’re done. I’m trying to get it dialed in now and have a few questions. 1. Set at 50%. I have a Tristar VS950. I’m trying to figure out what rpm to run the pump at. When I try lower rpm (1200-1500) the no flow light...

    Pre-install pvc help

Probably a better option to keep everything straight. Can I get away with cutting both sections of pipe in the middle where the red line is? Or does there need to be more space on either side? I’ve never owned a pool before and I’m embarrassed to admit I don’t know what the red handle does so...
