When my FC is 30 and water temp is cold, 65-70F how valid are other tests?

as the title says my FC is 30 (started out high when I closed and still 30 when I opened a few days ago) and water temp is cold, 65-70F how valid are other tests? My Ph is 7.2 to 6.8 after a few days of testing. High FC mean Ph test is not valid? CYA is 50 TA is off the charts. last fall...

Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! **RESURRECTED FOR 2025!**

I had the FC pretty high, something like 15. Not near slam level. I did take a peak under the cover in Feb. and added a gallon of pool shock I had left over. In Jan it was froze solid

Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! **RESURRECTED FOR 2025!**

Just opened the cover 1hr ago to start things up. Clear as a bell and 59F water temp. Will run things for a day and see what the chemistry is like. Little white petals from the adjacent blooming crab apple blowing into the pool I could do without though

I can't believe all you central Indiana guys opening already. Suppose to freeze tonight and snow flurries on Monday !! Better than the tornados a few days ago I guess. I'm waiting till at least the first of May. My water temp is around 48F last time I checked.

Pool Placement and Other Questions - First Pool

nothing special on the concrete. They just used a big sponge on it just as it set vs a metal trowel.

Pool Placement and Other Questions - First Pool

If concerned about gravel getting into pool, try river rock like we did. Black underlayment and little roundup keeps the the weeds in check.

Let’s see your water after removing winter cover!! **RESURRECTED FOR 2025!**

popped the auto cover for a peek last week when it was 70F. Here in Indiana its 78F yesterday, but will be 45 tomorrow and probably snow in April. Water was crystal clear (sorry did not take a photo) with a few leaves. Water temp was 48F. Plan on opening 1st or 2nd week of May

What did you do to your pool today?

Been covered since October, opened the auto cover up to check things. Water crystal clear. Dumped a little chlorine in it, scooped a few leaves out and covered it back up. Ready to open about mid May if water temps get up to 60-65F. Water temp yesterday was 48F. At one point in Jan it was...

    HOA Pool

I was our HOA pool manager/caretaker for our subdivision for 4yr till we moved (the only way I could get out of the job !!) It was a chlorine tab pool and had I known then what I know now I would have told them to get a SWG right off the bat. About once a month the city would close me down due...

Ordering coming year test kit refills?

I seem to remember that ordering refills might be at a discount sometime this spring. I have TF pro salt kit and see refill set is $54, but that does not include the salt refills at $36. I have a lot of salt, TA and CH test left over from last year. Any of that still good for the coming...

What did you do to your pool today?

added some noodles to the skimmers (already had gizmos in them) as the weather here will be going into the 20's for the next few weeks and like last year the water will probably freeze solid. Noodles kept popping up out of the skimmers, had to screw down the lids.

Auto cover but still bunch of leaves in the pool ?

We have a one year old fiberglass pool that I closed Oct 13. Just opened it today to check on water and add some noodles to the skimmers (Gizmos were already there) as temps will be single digits in next 2 weeks. On opening the pool was full of leaves and pine cone needles (Dang neighbors...

What did you do to your pool today?

Finishing up first full year with our new pool. FC up to 20 on closing day. Paid the pool company $450 to use a cyclone to blow out the lines taking them about 10 min. I had already cleaned the SWG and the filter cartridges. So. . . . next year I'm buying my own cyclone and doing it myself.

Question on using the Cyclone blower

I watched my pool guy use a cyclone to close my pool and want to try it myself next year. But after watching, the next day I had a question He blew out the skimmers (pool was not drained so skimmers 1/2 full) and while a big gusher of air and water was coming out, an assistant screwed in a...

Pool guy closing this year, but next year I'll try it.

Well the pool guy just finished closing and he used the Cyclone blower + poured a gallon of AF into the SWG. Other than that I took pics of everything he did in just 10 min. So next year I'm buying a Cyclone and doing it myself and saving $450

Pool guy closing this year, but next year I'll try it.

Correct, two skimmers. the two lines on the left go to two bubblers on a baja deck. Only one return line on the right going thru the black SWG then to 3 wall returns. I was assuming all the above ground lines and thru the heater got AF, then all the other lines got AF till it started coming...

Pool guy closing this year, but next year I'll try it.

Pool was installed last fall, so I got a free closing. They blew out the lines and put in antifreeze. They said they put in 50 gal of AF at $15 per gal so next year it would be $750 for AF + $400 labor. This year I'm paying them $450 to just blow out lines only. Planning on videoing them and...

    Closing Pool Chemicals

I was not really recommending anyone to use my kit. Just saying what the pool company wanted me to use for closing to keep my warranty (which is now up since the 1yr has passed). Dry shock is "Bioguard Artic Blue Shock" dry pellets that I'm supposed to dissolve in bucket of warm water then...

    Closing Pool Chemicals

The pool kit I just got has a can of dry shock I mix and throw in and then a bottle of "Bioguard Artic blue Alge Protector" No clue if it has copper in it. I guess I should look at the label. Right now my pool FC is around 10 and today and tomorrow will be the last day to swim, then closing...

    Closing Pool Chemicals

Last fall we closed our new pool for the first time. The pool company said to buy the pool store kit to keep their warranty in force. We did and when we opening this spring the pool was crystal clear. All season we did our own testing and chemical control per TFP. But for our closing this...

    Leaving pool for vacation

close it every night, but open it during daytime. right now CYA is 50, and FC is up around 10, ph is 7.8 since it has not have much activity, and 50's nights and low 70's day. SWG has been set at 50% for last month, but turned it down to 40% yesterday since FC is creeping up.

    Leaving pool for vacation

I'm leaving for 2 weeks and will be turning the SWG up pretty high so FC is at least 10 or above. Should I open or close my auto cover? Not much chance of debris or evaporation.
