    Equipment for New Build

So I thought I was done posting in this thread but I'm sitting here registering all of my Pentair products online and just discovered they installed the MasterTemp Part Number: 460737 (Propane) and I have Natural Gas. How concerned should I be about this? How did they get the Propane model to...

    Water Slowly Dripping from Scupper

Update: Since I took apart the diverter and scraped that tiny bit of glue off the top, the scupper has remained dry. I’ll keep an eye on it for the next several days but hopefully that’s all it needed.

    Water Slowly Dripping from Scupper

I opened up the Jandy diverter a few minutes ago. There was a tiny bit of pvc glue on the top seal where you can see more glue on the hard plastic part. I didn’t find much in the way of glue along the inside edges of the diverter where the seal would be touching. It’s not clear to me why water...

    Water Slowly Dripping from Scupper

No worries. I appreciate the help! One other question. When I'm putting everything back together and reinstalling the IntelliValve, how do I ensure that the position of the Jandy valve is correct? Is it keyed a specific way so that you know that position 0 on the IntelliValve is truly lined...

    Water Slowly Dripping from Scupper

I suppose I also need to figure out what size pipes I have to pick the correct parts? https://www.jandy.com/en/products/pool-valves/diverter-valves/neverlube

    Water Slowly Dripping from Scupper

It's definitely a Jandy brand diverter. Which parts in this diagram would typically need to be replaced to fix a bad seal? Thanks.

    Water Slowly Dripping from Scupper

That's what I suspected. Can the diverter be replaced/repaired without re-gluing any of the pipes? We had issues with the equipment installer and I was trying to avoid having him come back. If this is something I can replace/repair then I'll ask the pool builder to drop off the replacement...

New Pool Build - Testing for the first time

One other lesson we learned the hard way is to always handle chemicals outdoors. We used a plastic mat to cover our kitchen island so we could weigh the amount of CYA to add. We got everything measured out and added it to the pool just fine and cleaned up the kitchen. We didn't think any of...

New Pool Build - Testing for the first time

Thank you for the reply. That makes us feel better about adding muriatic acid more than once a week. It feels like it's a lot but we've never owned a pool so this is all new to us. We will continue to fight the pH throughout this first year and see if we can get the level to stay under 8 for...

    Water Slowly Dripping from Scupper

Hello, We have a new pool that was completed a little over a month ago. We have a feature wall with three scuppers which are controlled via a diverter and IntelliValve. We recently noticed that when the diverter is in the closed position for the scuppers, there appears to be a small amount of...

New Pool Build - Testing for the first time

Update: We have been slowly learning how to get our numbers where they should be. It's definitely taking some patience and there has been some trial and error. I currently have our IC40 at 15% and our pump is running 6 AM - 9 PM which appears to be sufficient for now. The one thing I feel...

    New pool build

The pool is 12’x24’ not including the bump out for the steps. I’ll have to look at the drawings to see how wide the decking is. I do know the decking is 12’ deep at the back of the pool (where the chaise loungers are). I’ll try to post a separate build thread soon with more details.

See my signature for details of our new pool. It’s 12’x24’ so around 10k gallons. I defer to @ajw22 on the proper filter for your pool. :)

    Builder Equipment Options

Yes absolutely. I went through this same thing last year when we were getting multiple quotes. What I found is that every builder had a different opinion on what equipment they recommended so I came here to get more info. I built a list of makes and models of what I wanted (per the...

    New pool build

Nice! That's a lot of progress for day one! I'm a little jealous of the size of your yard. Ours presented many challenges including a next door neighbor who did everything they could to stop our project.

    Equipment for New Build

Quick Update: Over this past weekend I switched the configuration back to the two-wire fireman's switch and moved the bypass IntelliValve back to the IntelliCenter valve B connection which the PB had previously assigned to the heater. Then I deleted the MasterTemp and added the Gas Heater back...

Oh and here is a picture of our feature wall lighting. I doubt we will ever use the pool lights.

    New pool build

We ended up going with Blue Granite PebbleSheen for our new build. It wasn't our first choice as we had wanted something darker but the premium costs on the darker colors didn't make sense for a pool our size. I'm happy with the way the color turned out. Would we like it a little darker...

Question about how my Intellicenter is wired to my pumps.

Let me know which way you decide to connect it. I'm sure you've seen the challenges I've been facing in that other thread. My plan is to change mine back to the fireman's switch and see if I can get the bypass to work correctly by having the IntelliValve connected directly to the IntelliCenter...

    Equipment for New Build

One question I have about the fireman's switch connection is the manual states to use "18 gauge wire with a minimum 3/64” (1.2mm) thick insulation rated for a temperature rise of at least 105°C. The area the wire passes through can get hot and melt wire insulation." Would something like this...

The more i research equipment the more confused and frustrate i get.

I followed the advice of @ajw22 and went with an IntelliFlo 3hp VSF pump for our smaller pool (only 10K gallons) and I'm glad I did. I can run it at much slower speeds to save energy and it is super quiet which is what I really cared about. I didn't want to hear the pump running when I was on...

    Equipment for New Build

I was referring to these instructions for the bypass configuration: https://www.pentair.com/content/dam/extranet/nam/pentair-pool/residential/parts-sheets/heaters/pentair_heater_auto_bypass_valve_replacement%20_kit.pdf They instruct you to connect the bypass IntelliValve to the heater directly...

    Equipment for New Build

I can't say for sure that the heater is always powered on. I know the red light does not turn on until you call for heat from IntelliCenter. And when it's running, you can't do much with the heater control panel because it just says 'RS485 Control' on the display and you can't do much of...
