Is that Diamond Brite Super Blue? If so, that's a light pool water color. I would go with the lighter grout so it doesn't look like your grout is dirty. But Tony is right, do you want blended tiles or individual tile look?

Thanks! Yes it is 4K. But outside I don't notice the difference. It looks great tho and does well battling glare in the late afternoon.

Earlier in your thread I think you decided to go 6" water depth on the ledge. How much deeper is it?

No algae concerns. Numbers look good. It's just a matter of a lot of filter pressure. And we've had a ton of plaster dust for both finishes.

    New Build in NE FL

I consider myself super particular, but I don't see it unless I look really hard. I think you've got to pick your battles and this is one no one else will ever notice, especially given the location. Try to enjoy the rest of your build as much as you can!

We are still experiencing some high filter pressure even after cleaning the cartridges. It's noticeably higher after the refinish (normal was 15psi before refinish, now its closer to 25 psi). We've been able to get the spa to work better but still can't get the Venturi jets to go. PB suggests...

Are the bubblers on a booster/feature pump? And how deep is the ledge? If on a booster pump you can get them above 12" of water on high settings.

Cooling our pools for those in the deep South and in direct sun

I will report back in a couple of weeks. When I'm filling the pool from the hose, I should have it at the bottom of the pool vs on the surface, right?

Cooling our pools for those in the deep South and in direct sun

Thanks for the info. We woke up today with 78 outside temp and 88 pool temp (from 93 yesterday at sunset). Extra humid day. Kicking it down to 80 overnight would help it take longer to climb throughout the day for sure.

Cooling our pools for those in the deep South and in direct sun

Thanks. Most people seem to say they work. Did you buy them online or make them? I'm skeptical with our constant humidity and lack of overnight lows here in south Florida. But for $60-$70 for two, I am willing to take a chance.

Cooling our pools for those in the deep South and in direct sun

This is such a timely post. Our pool hit 93 today here in south Florida. Too warm in my opinion. And it's only going to get hotter. I've been googling ever since my first dip today. I came across skippy-like mist fountains online for about $30. Who knew that you would ever need to worry about...

    Northlake, TX New Pool Build

Sounds very nice. After looking again, the original design show a depth profile, but it's not clear if it's to scale and what the measurements are. Definitely worth a check before gunite. It's hard(er) to change anything after the shoot. You will be set with the steps. Ours are 12" and are ok...

Also if you are going 4' on the side with the steps, did the pool builder recommend adding an extra step? That profile will be over 12" of riser per step without an extra step. Most pools are 10-12" from what I understand.

Ok thanks for clarifying. With 4' sides and 5.5' middle, your average depth will actually be deeper than 4.5' assuming the slopes start early (close to the wall) like ours does. It is absolutely a personal preference, but I like our 3.5 to 5' side better than the 4 to 5' side. I don't believe...

    Northlake, TX New Pool Build

Ctrav, thanks for linking me to your build. The specs look good. Your original post and the pic of your design show two different depth profiles. The only thing I would suggest you double check is your 4' depth and slopes. Where do the slopes start? Do you have enough space at 3.5' and 4' before...

South Florida Pool & Outdoor Living - STARTUP PHASE

Re: South Florida Pool & Outdoor Living - STARTUP PHASE Thanks. How long have you had it for? Ours doesn't ever get wet, it's easily 7 feet in from our roof overhang. So it would really be more for protection from humidity and bugs. Does it help at all with blocking humidity? I'd be...

South Florida Pool & Outdoor Living - STARTUP PHASE Good morning! We have been getting slammed here with tropical storm like rains for about the last 12 hours. Easily 4+ inches. I am happy to report that our gutter flex drain and deck drain worked very well. Only a little buildup of water...

Thanks Kim. We are still on 24 hour spa spillover (5 foot wide) for the first 30 days of startup. I would think that would do the trick but it's just that hot and humid here south of you.

Sorry I stand corrected. I was thinking Quartzscape, not Stonescape. Both are made by NPT. Stonescape is a more cost effective pebble alternative as I understand it. But I can't speak to the quality of the product. Sorry.

Where are you located? Stonescapes, Florida Gem, Diamond Brite, and Premix Marbletite are all very close competitors here in South Florida. From what I understand, some of the chemists have moved from one place to the other over time, effectively replicating the product with some tweaks. I...

Thank you! It's Premix Marbletite brand, Marquis series (Quartz aggregate), in Sapphire color. We also added 5 bags of small black stones to darken it.
