    New inground pool liner question

Normal, if it laid tight against the wall you would get wrinkling. It will seat itself with time.

    Can't figure out stain

Lower Ph and chlorine, do an AA treatment, then resume proper chlorine levels according to your cya level.

Main Drain closed intentionally or clogged

I’d say it’s plugged because unless you’re using an equalizer plate the main drain won’t pull anything.

Fine dirt on bottom - help needed.

Normally when one says fine dirt in the pool, it’s dead algae. Vacuum manually to waste, I call it quick hitting spot vacuuming, hitting mostly the seams.

Looking for a pool heater and do not know which way to go

Propane heated pools up east commonly have two 500 lb tanks and regularly burn $2,000-$3,000 worth of propane. Heat pumps normally run under a $800 a season

Looking for a pool heater and do not know which way to go

Propane heater has cheaper up front investment vs heat pump but your propane bills will empty your wallet in a hurry. Go heat pump, you’ll thank me later.

Oh the hilarity of it all...

Scary and hilarious. Tip….leave the skimmer basket in when vacuuming, it protects the pump.

    Repair or replace sand filter?

If you have extra money laying around why not, if you don’t you can take it apart, suction out the sand and inspect the laterals. I’d be shocked if they are really damaged.

Why did my filter fittings crack

Unions or valves break from being over tightened, ppl over tighten them perhaps due to misalignment from first install, requiring additional force to stop leaks. Lots of lube on o rings can solve a lot of leak issues.

Skimmer in the higher end of an unlevel pool

Two thoughts come to mind, physically moving that skimmer down a foot or you could simply plumb a flexible piece of pvc out the mouth of the skimmer, of course it’s glued into a mpt fitting that screws into the port at the bottom of the skimmer.

    Can't figure out stain

Have you dropped a bunch of chewable vitamin c tabs in one stained area? Sure looks like metal staining to my eye.

    SLAM taking too long!

If you can’t see the bottom of a pool, any pool, you shouldn’t have swimmers in it.

Cloudy water, but none of the usual suspects?

Cloudy says it’s not passing OCLT. Slam will get it sparkly clear.

    Aquatrol not reading salt correctly

super low speeds have been known to mess with salinity on gold line cells.

Best way to partially drain my pool? Pic included

Garden hose on the spigot at the pump pressure side, that’s why it’s there. Or a hose, fully loaded with water, plug end, drag it to a spot lower that the pools water, let it siphon off, best thing is you place the end in the pool at the level you want the water with no fear of it going too low.

    Winter cover alternatives

You have three choices for a winter cover. Mesh or solid safety cover. Mesh Allows water to filter through, key is having them tight enough so leaves blow off with wind. Solid requires a pump to remove water off it or tears can result. Zero mixing of snow melt water with pool water. Coping...

Pump won't Prime - Need some Ideas

Firstly, do not open main drain and skimmer when trying to prime, close the main drain, fill the pump basket to over flowing, let a lot run down that line, basket lid back on then turn pump on, you will see the water in the basket be quickly sucked out, depending on how far away your skimmer is...

5 days of slamming and pool still cloudy/turquoise

Assuming those test results are accurate….then your chlorine level is too low for slam, you need to raise it to 18-20 and keep it there until the water is clear. That’s means regular testing and dosing of chlorine. Anything below slam level is just playing rope a dope with the algae. You can...

    Solar Heater in Charlotte NC?

Yes, all are south facing and are 70-80% versus pool sizes, positioning against the angle of the sun determines which months are best. All my clients prefer extended spring swimming so they are mounted on 4/12 pitch roofs facing south. Three can gain uo to 15 degrees in May, as the sun rises...

    Solar Heater in Charlotte NC?

Solar works but if your getting it installed by a professional then it can be very expensive. A lot of pool companies won’t do them due to insurance restrictions on how high their workers can go. If your a DIY type of pool owner then it’s a no brainer imo. i have a lot of pools with solar...

Pool care comments that have made you chuckles

Chlorine is different than bleach. CYA at 90 is ok, but over 100 then you need to drain half your pool and add fresh water Algaecide will clear a green pool Sadly all these store owners are trained by the chemical reps, so yes, the fox guards the hen hut. Also, very very few owners even own pools.
