First pool opening, need new pump

Hi!
First time opening the pool in our new (to us) house. The pump motor is siezed. It is a Hayward 1 hp. Plan to replace the pump. Should I use the same pump? Are there upgrades I should consider?

Oh, I forgot important information. In ground pool, not sure the gallon, maybe 32 feet.

Hi susank59,
This seems like a great occasion to upgrade to a variable speed pump. I have the Pentair Intelliflo 3hp vsp and I’m very pleased with it. A similar pump from Hayward will likely be just fine. I run mine 24/7 @900rpm (good enough for skimming and my SWCG) at about $7/month.
