Leak where PVC meets sand filter

Hi all-
I thought I had a leak from the O-ring under the multiport valve, but upon further examination it appears to be coming from a straight PVC piece that goes into the filter (I think it’s coming from the pvc line that is the return from the filter?). How do I fix this? I’ve read that epoxy is short term, and usually only successful for small leaks. This one is pretty dang big. Like don’t want to leave my pump on.

The fitting needs to be replaced. Patching isn’t gonna work on the pressure side.
 
The way it's leaking, I would check for cracks on the filter side.

The fitting is threaded into the filter. To remove it you would need to cut the pipe so you could turn the pipe and the fitting. It would be a good idea to install unions at the filter to make servicing the system easier.
 
The PVC is not square to the fitting. This is causing binding and leaking. The piping needs to be replumbed and built square.
You should use unions to connect to pumps and filters, not PVC threaded fittings.

Ok thank you for all your responses. I ended up cutting the pipe, installing unions and getting the old male threaded pvc out of there. It was cracked and I guess as a temporary solution the previous owners had put a bunch of glue in there. Was a mess to get out. Anyway reinstalled a new male end with union and new pvc extension and it’s working great!
