IntelliCenter 3.002 - Heater not working

Folks -

I upgraded my IntelliCenter to 3.004 today and was not able to turn on the heater for either the Spa or Pool.

After I figured out how to switch back to 1.064 it started to work again.

My setup is all Pentair - so I've a MasterTemp.

The heater showed configured on both the latest Pentair App and on the IntelliCenter. When you turn on the Pool or Spa, it shows that's heating up but the heater never got engergized. Rebooted it a couple of times and restarted the Pentair a couple of times and that made no difference.

Once it was back on 1.064 it worked right away.

Has anybody else seen this before ?

Thanks

Hilmi

While under 3.02 did you confirm that the heater was still associated with the pool/spa circuits? If you where on 1.064 prior to the upgrade, like 2.x, 3.04 was a pretty significant re-architecure that could have tweaked with configuration.

I have the same problem. Here is what Pentair said:
"On the old firmware when you select either GAS HEATER or MasterTemp the system would activate both ways to try and turn these heaters on.

Now on 3.002 you must choose the exact correct way that the heater is connected to the IntelliCenter for it to activate correctly. So if you have MASTERTEMP selected on this new higher firmware and the heater starts - you are wired RS 485.

If you have GAS HEATER selected as the heat source, and the heater starts, you are wired through the Fireman switch on the heater back to the gas heater port on the IntelliCenter.

You have to find out which of the two ways this heater is installed/wired to the IntelliCenter, and be sure the heat source is set to that style of connection for it to work.

My guess is your unit is probably connected from fireman switch to gas heater relay, and you need to change the heat source to GAS HEATER and it will work correctly. "

But - I cannot find out where one can change between "MASTERTEMP" and GAS HEATER". If anyone knows please let me know.

I also noticed that I still have no system temperature history on 3.002.

History for me was fixed under 3.004

Under advanced installation settings , heaters , you select connected gas. It will only allow this if it detects a heater on the rs485 buss.

You have to delete the incorrect heater entry and then ADD a new heater.

There is no way to modify the heater type.

Thanks so much! Had the same issue with a Max-E-Therm 400 and since the system was taken out of service mode around the same time as when I did the firmware upgrade, I didn't realize this was the cause of the heater not operating when out of service mode. Deleted the Max-E-Therm heater entry and created a new "Gas Heater" entry, went back and enabled it for the pool/spa, and the heat kicked right on.

Thanks everyone for the information. Here is how my heater is configured, and it does not work on 3.002 (see pic). Can someone tell me how I should change this? I'm reluctant to delete this because it works under 1.064 and when I click add heater I only see "Hybrid" under Type. I will delete it if necessary but the guidance from Pentair simply seems wrong because I believe my heater is connected via the Fireman's switch and they type is Connected Gas which seems correct. The only wires between my heater and the Intelicenter are for power.

Connected Gas is for RS-485 heater control, not Fireman's Switch.

Firemans switch heater says Gas Heater, not MasterTemp.

Delete your heater and add the Gas heater, and not MasterTemp.

Pentair manages to make this confusing.
