The pool was built in 1991. The surface is Cool Deck.

The wood spacers in the expansion joints were all rotted and mostly sawdust. I removed all of this material and have purchased 35' of PVC trim to install in the 2" deep X 1 1/2" wide joints. Some of the expansion joints have hairline cracks in the bottom of the joints. Should I seal those cracks with latex caulking (or other material), or just leave them alone and install the PVC trim? The trim is exactly the dimensions of the joints.

Thank you,

Those are control joints, not expansion joints. They control where the concrete should crack. The cracks you find in the control joints show it was effective. Leave them as is.

Allen,

Thank you! I knew there was a reason for them being installed...just didn't know why...that's why the cool deck has lasted 34 years...
