Skimmer basket replacement surprise

Our skimmer baskets have become brittle and needed replacement after 25 years here. The bottom of the existing skimmers have marking “Model SP-1082, SP-1084” (bottom pic above)

A Hayward basket was found online indicating “Hayward Basket, Oem, Sp1082/1083/1084/1085/1086 Skimmer”, so a couple were ordered. However, what arrived had a round opening at the bottom of the basket. (Top pic above)

The opening appears to be for a perforated pipe “riser”. That’s fine, but the packaging did not include risers and I can’t seem to find them available separately online. Any suggestions where to order the skimmer risers separately, or what pipe fitting might allow me to create my own riser is appreciated.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I did see those but had initially thought that original Hayward might be a bit more robust than a generic knock-off. AIO to non-OEM? Concerns are premature plastic degradation and more plastic waste than necessary.

Local pool store should have baskets as well if ones nearby.

The Val-Pak basket for my Pentair skimmer is better than the original Pentair, and from what I hear, Val-Pak's other baskets are equally excellent. Last time I recommended Val-Pak to someone, one of the pool professionals here recounted how the company would demonstrate the strength of their baskets at trade shows by parking a truck on 4 of them.

Thanks for helpful suggestions. I can’t believe I didn’t think of going to the local pool store first - might have cut off nose to spite face. The Valparaiso V60-555 does look like a very reasonable replacement.

Here is what was purchased - neither cheap nor correct and pic showed exactly what was received

I plan on stopping by a plumbing supply store in search of a PVC cap, or pool store in search of a skimmer basket tower. The basket received appears very sturdy and other than the open fitting, I’m happy with the basket in hand. My query was to see if more experienced folks might know where to purchase an appropriate “tower” to install in the basket. However, I’ve never had a situation here where a tower would have proved useful, as we have an auto-cover so skimmer debris accumulation is generally light.

Buy the Val-Pak once and you will never buy another. Mine is now over 25 years old and the newer ones are even better with their integrated handle. They were originally advertised with the picture of a full-size pickup sitting on 4 of them, one under each tire. Also saw that at a distributor's display. It all I would sell if available for a particular skimmer.
