My filter on my Polaris robot is too clogged to clean. It’s now my backup bot so I really don’t want to buy another filter. Is there a good way to clean?
I have 2 of the mesh fllter baskets. The robot wasn't picking anything up or climbing the walls. I thought the pump motor was bad so I pulled off the propeller guard and made sure it was working and then I read on Polaris site if its not climbing try it without the filter and sure enough it climbed right up the wall. I took the old filter basket that is ripped on the sides and put it in and now it works. The newer one is ripped a little as well but not as bad. I'd like to clean if possible as I got a cordless cleaner and this is the backup so I'd rather not spend another 55 dollars for another mesh basket.
If the mesh is tearing then it's too fine and can't handle the pressure from the pump. For early in the season with heavy debris that is common. Just a FYI you can put a bead of crazy glue on the plastic where it tore from and then bring the mesh over it. Watch it absorb and tap it down with your finger for good contact and let it cure. You will have repaired it for future use. Have done this many times.

Yes, I was trying to figure out how to maybe fix it. I just know a lot of stuff gets eaten by the chlorine. I wasn't sure if I could use superglue or I needed like Boss 801 pool silicone. I will try with the superglue as the old one at least appears to work although unlike the new one with a little cut, the old one might be too far gone at this point.
