Getting my pool up and running went to put my filter plug back in and the threads were stripped. Last fall removing the plug was a pain in the butt I think the threads got filled with dirt as they extend into the filter body. I was hoping to use Teflon to seal it but there's hardly any threads left not sure if it'll work. I still have warranty for a few more weeks not sure if this is something that would be covered? I also know warranty can take weeks and weeks to get resolved and I really want to get my pool going. Doing some searching on the forums doesn't seem like gluing's a good option but wanted to see if there was some good way for a temporary repair?1000011710.jpg

Teflon tape did not stop it from leaking. It has a very slow drop drop drop leak. I'm thinking of using an silicone RTV and letting it cure overnight. Then it will be a permanently closed.

I would not trust just RTV. The force on that plug (pressure times area) is not insignificant. Sadly, you will need a new lower filter shell sooner rather than later.

You're dealing with a pressure vessel that is damaged. It needs to be replaced, sadly. There is the danger of a "catastrophic" failure that could harm someone or cause flood damage. That much water dumped into your yard would not be pretty and can even get under a house foundation. If the pool were to empty the pump would run dry and could also be damaged.

It stopped dripping after 24 hrs with just Teflon tape. Pressure in tank is at most 5psi with my setup. Not huge pressure on plug. Will go with RTV if future leaks. May call pentair next week to check on warranty coverage. Thanks
