My dolphin used to work great, then it started having problems with the swivel cord and I eventually replaced with a new non-swivel cord. It now runs perfectly fine, but debris no longer stays in the basket. It captures more in the grill of the blow port than in the basket. What could cause this?

W,

It could also be that you've got thread or something wrapped around the suction impeller.

You need to take the impeller off and look underneath and make sure there in nothing wrapped around the suction motor shaft.

Thanks,

Jim R.

The basket isn’t sitting properly in the robots body cavity. There should be springs on the bottom of the cavity that force the basket upwards. That seals the basket against the top hood. If the basket isn’t sealed properly, then debris will go around the filter and get suctioned up by the impeller and forced out the jets. Eventually something will snag the impeller and cause it to jam.

Also, check the condition of the large rubber drain flap on the outside of the body (typically near the back brush) that it isn’t damaged. A damaged drain seal can allow debris to get sucked into the body by the drain opening which will cause debris to fill up the vent ports.

That sounds reasonable. What would I do about that? Do they sell new springs?

I've had that happen a bunch of times. When it does the robot doesn't blow water out the port well and sometimes even fails the startup routine. That's not the case this time.
