Just wanted to express my gratitude to TFP. Bought a home with a pool ~4 months ago with no idea what to do. Hired a pool guy initially, but was surprised at how little they did to actually manage the pool.
Bought my test kit and ended up with these initial stats:
FC: 9
CC: 0.5
TA: 120
PH: 8.2
CH: 700
CYA: 200
3 weeks on and partial drain later I now have gotten myself to here:
FC: 7
CC: 0
TA: 90
PH: 7.5
CH: 250
CYA: 60
I would have never been able to figure out how to do a proper partial drain with a sump pump, mix muriatic acid safely, add CH, and refill with portable water softener as quickly as I did without everyones help.
Still need to up my CH a bit and manage TA down, but my pool is looking great.
