Hey everyone. Never had a pool before so I’m a bit confused, and online I mostly find how to set up with regular chlorine but we have a saltwater system. Can someone guide me on what chemicals it is I’ll need to get the pool running? Also can someone recommend test strips? Are the regular ones ok or does salt need to be tested as well? Thank you!

Hello and welcome to TFP! I'm going to put a couple links below to help get you started. The biggest thing is to "properly" test your own water. None of that free testing locally or test strips. Be sure to have a TF-100/Pro-Series test kit or a Taylor K-2006C. That's a must.

If you have any questions let us know.

We were where you are 6 years ago with our salt water pool. We only use muriatic acid, cyanuric acid (stabilizer), salt, and occasional liquid chlorine (usually during the spring, as the temps and sunlight times are rising quickly, and we're dialing in the SWG).

Buy the test kit, follow the guidance here, and you really will have a trouble free pool!
