Aiper Scuba S1 Review

After about a week, I still can’t get wall mode to not skip a 10-12 foot section of my wall and it’s driving me bonkers. It’ll finish the circled section then just scoot over to where it’s shown in the pic.

Other than that, it does a really good job of cleaning the floor. I’m in acorn season so the large basket is awesome for being able to run it 3-4 times before emptying it vs changing my 280 bag once or twice a day.

Lugging it out of the pool and bringing it inside to charge is kind of cumbersome, but I guess it’s something I’ll deal with.

My Scuba S1 is going back. I’m getting a new one under warranty. Worked great for 2 months but stopped running one day. Customer service has been excellent so I have no complaints.

The good news is that they’re standing behind their product. The bad news is that they had to do so after just 2 months. I’m sure they’ve sold tens of thousands of these things so far this year. Wonder how many have been sent back? Mine is 3 months old. Guess it will be a crapshoot as to how long it lasts. Nothings built to last any more. Such a shame.

I sent 3 back. The customer service was excellent. Still waiting on the refund, it hasn't been a week yet, so I'm not complaining.

What was the problem for those that had to send it back? Just checking to see if there's a trend or a few random failures.

Unfortunately Aiper still has some work to do on the programming.

Today I ran my bot on floor/wall mode. It ran for +/- 3 hrs. Towards the end of its cycle it was running in the side to side N pattern and unfortunately it got stuck on the incline. I'm guessing it had something to do with it ran out of time before it had time to react to its lack of advancement. It was traversing the incline for a while as I watched it before it came to rest.

As a result it finished it's cycle leaving debris in my shallow end.Compress_20240804_131847_7669.jpgCompress_20240804_131847_7915.jpg

I’ve had the Scuba S1 since May, replacing my old Active Solo. I like the fact that it is cordless, since I have an auto cover it’s nice to have nothing sticking out at night. Plus, my cord was always twisted. But I’ve got to say the Scuba S1 has one drawback concerning the strength of suction. It will only pick up what is in its path, and so occasionally may run the track over debris and miss it.
But otherwise, the basket catches all the bugs and micro-dirt that makes its way in. And hair! Super easy to clean, and charging is easy. I run it only on the bottom, since otherwise it seems to not be able to complete cleaning bottom and walls before running out of battery.

I've had mine a little over a month now. New pool with a lot of construction really loaded it up pretty well and it performed well above my expectations for a battery powered device. Now that we have the enclosure fully in place I'm testing out the 45 minute eco mode. Seems to be holding up well but I will report back when we complete the 4-day cycle on this.

after I saw the post from @Katodude I stopped cleaning the basket every time I charged it since it had a lot more room left. Have not noticed any reduction in cleaning from this so that saves a little trouble. Thanks Andy great tip!

Hello Everyone,
I've got thru most of the thread and I noticed that most of You use Scuba S1 for floor only. Wouldn't it be better to go with L1 version? It's a bit chepaer, and comes with ultra fine filter, but does only the floor.
I've got round pool, so it won't work best for walls anyway, and I've read that waterline cleaning is not the best in S1/N1.
What do You think?

I'm still experimenting to figure out what works best but it looks like at this point I will run the four day eco mode which does floor only. Then I will charge it in the morning and let it do a full pool clean and charge it again that day to start another 4-day floor only cycle. Based on performance so far I will only need to clean it the day I charge it between eco mode runs.

Turns out I do occasionally run it in wall mode. If we have a very big rainstorm there will be some debris that accumulates along the tile line. The Bettas dont quite pick it up and thats one of the times I will run it in wall mode. I like having the flexibility.

If I had a normal pool I would get a bette also. since my pool is a zero Edge combined with an infinity my entire pool is the skimmer. So all I need to worry about is the floor and walls plus a couple ledges that I just brush off periodically to the floor.

I installed an underground pipe that goes from the edge of the pool to underneath the outdoor kitchen to avoid a chord running across the patio. Didn't cost me since I did this during the house foundation Construction. But I think it will never get used now that I have a cordless robot that seems to be proving itself every day is a great choice.

Had mine for a week and so far so good. Although I do wish it were smart enough to park itself in the shallow end near the charger. This week trying econ mode which is supposed to maintain the bottom cleaning for a week.
As long as it’s against the wall someplace, I’m fine with it. The pole with my hook is 10’ long so no problems. I’ve had mine for 4 months and it always angles up at the wall for easy retrieval.

Bad news folks. My Aiper S1 is dead... purchased 06 July. Been using it successfully for over a month and very satisfied with the excellent results. I've experimented with all modes and it really did great. Now it won't charge. Instead of going from red to orange to green during charging is stays red and won't start. Called customer support in US which actually is answered by their customer support in Hong Kong. They asked a few questions and sent me an email requesting serial number, name, address. He indicated the battery is most likely faulty and the unit will need to be replaced. He was very difficult to understand but was also very patient to repeat things. He indicated I will get a service ticket soon that I can fill out to send me a shipping label and arrange to send a new unit.

He indicated the process will take a week. Back to manual vacuuming. I guess failures happen but for me the jury's out... Bummer!

I’ve had mine for 4 months now and use it every other day. Still no sign of degradation in charging time (about 2.5 hours to fully charge) and my run time is holding steady between 2:45-3:15.
Nice to know Aiper is honoring their warranty but feeling uneasy that they seem to have to be doing so in so many instances. Doesn’t give one a good sense of comfort wondering what year 2 will have in store for us if we’re lucky enough to make it thru year 1 with no issues. But I’ve gone thru 3 compressors on my 10 yr old LG refrigerator so it is what it is.

Are you finding that the acorns get stuck in the Aiper's throat? I'm entering acorn season too and I'm having to pull at least one out for the past week or so.

I've had mine for...maybe two months now. I've run it at least once a day, sometimes twice and a few times three times. It gets mostly everything the first time.

I don't like that the mesh basket gets...stickers stuck in it. I think they're leaf stems. I assume this will kill the basket eventually, but if new ones are cheap I don't think that's Aiper's fault.

Mine won't really get my walls, but I think that might be the pool's fault--it's more of a cone with a shelf around it, then walls. It stops at the shelf. It will get the 'cone walls' on floor mode, so it recognizes them as 'floor'. I still have to brush those walls a lot, but the Aiper will get the floor.

The acorns my trees drop are too big to go through the Aiper's 'throat' so they get stuck. Also not Aiper's fault and I'd have to see what other robots use to know if there's something better.

I'm viewing the Aiper not as a solution to keep the pool clean, but more as something that cuts down the time I spend cleaning the pool. I still have to get stuff off the floor occasionally. I still have to do the walls and shelf, but since this is my first robot I don't know if a different robot would be better.

I would buy one and try it. Worst case it won't work for your pool and you send it back.
