We build our pool in 1994 and I didn’t discover TFP until 2016 ,so used pool store recommendations for many years. One of the recommendations included all chemical additions to be added to the deep end of pool . This resulted in the plaster near the deep end drain being effected( etched?) and the yearly winter worms taking their toll resulting in this stain at the drain. The stain lightens during the pool season but never goes away entirely. Is there anything that can be done to eliminate or lighten the stain? The rest of the plaster is great, smooth and no stains.
Thanks

If the stain lightens during the pool season that says it is organic.

What FC and CYA level do you run your pool at?

You can try and be aggressive and rub a Trichlor tablet on the stain daily...

My CYA is 40, so I target FC at 6. I have let a a puck sit on the stain from time to time, and I can definitely see the area under the puck lighten. I will definitely try the the item you suggested, would make it a lot easier then trying to push/ position the puck with the pool brush. I think there is also some iron staining (well water) that is etched into the area from years ago.
(It’s very windy today, the black spots are tree buds that the vacuum did get yet)
Thank you .

Run your FC higher at 8-9ppm and it may help lighten the stain.

Run a paste of Vitamin C in a sock over the areas you think have iron staining.
