10K Gal pebble tech pool in Las Vegas NV. We have pop ups and recently bought a Dolphin proteus x5 robot that we run at night.
Liquid chlorine. Ph and TA are a bit high and I’m working on that now.
Waterfall has a separate pump.
Solar heat
(I put this in my signature block but not sure it shows up in my posts 🤷🏻‍♂️)
Currently set to run 7am to 6pm at 3000 rpm. After reading multiple threads and the article I am wondering if I shouldn’t take advantage of the programming and run it for two hours in the morning at about 1800, then go up to 3000 for a few hours in the afternoon and then back down to 1800 for a couple of hours again. Is 3000 to high at all?
We have lived in this house for about four years now, and it has two huge African sumac trees, which are currently shedding Its leaves like crazy into the pool. In the peak of summer they actually stop shedding so much.

The pool pump should be run for specific reasons
  1. Create chlorine if there is a SWCG - run at the lowest speed that activates the flow switch to produce chlorine
  2. Run a pressure side or suction side cleaner - run at a higher speed to properly operate the cleaner
  3. Skim the surface - this is a pump speed that pushes down the weir door of the skimmer - the speed is usually above that which will use to turn on a SWCG but less then that of the cleaner or heater speed
  4. Run a heater or solar system - run at a higher speed to properly operate either system
  5. Mix Chemical - can be similar speed to that which keeps the skimmer working - usually for a short duration

Every system is different based on the plumbing configuration and pipe size. My guess is that 3000 rpm is too high and should be lower.

Since you run for 11hrs now you may try this
Start at 2500rpm for 3 hrs - the pump will first prime then lower to 2500rpm to provide skimming action
drop down to 1800rpm for 5 hrs - circulation of pool and some skimming action
Speed up to 2500rpm for 3 hrs - finish up with good skimming and mixing

If you go longer than 11 hrs - then just expand the middle (1800rpm) for a longer run time.
If you need heat then speed will change on demand for that.

As you have an IFCS, you need to run the high rpm for that if you are using it.
Otherwise, with your system (no heater, SWCG, etc) you should be able to run at much lower rpm with a full size Intelliflo VS. The one issue is if the water is always returning to the pool via the IFCS, it does not do a good job at skimming.

I see you have an actuated valve. What automation system is controlling that? What is it for?

Pardon my ignorance, but I do not know what IFCS or an actuated valve is
 
IFCS is InFloorCleaningSystem. Your pop ups.

Actuated valve is shown in your picture by your filter.

If the actuated valve is the one in this photo, it’s for the solar heat

Great. Put that you have solar heating in your signature. I already put the IFCS in your signature.

You have a solar controller, put that in the signature. It likely ramps up the pump speed when the solar heating engages.

If this is my signature then it’s there…otherwise i obviously don’t know how to edit my sig
