First Pool Store Report (required for plaster warranty)

Week 5 of a new 11,150 gallon pools, UV/Ozone with chlorinator setup with white plaster with a Sand filter. Weather has been in the 80s, pool temperature has been around 81-82 lately.

I've been testing PH and Chlorine daily (some days 2x a day to understand my PH and Chorine levels late in the day), monitoring TA and CYA, and Calcium with the TFT Test Kits weekly.

Currently using 3" chlorine tabs, was going to start to add liquid chlorine daily, and maybe turn the chlorinator down to a very low setting with maybe 2 pucks. Adding 12 to 24oz of muriatic acid daily to keep the PH in check.

Attached is the results from the pool store today, my test are close to theirs (Last week I had Calcium higher, and I can't remember what my TA was (nothing was concerning in the levels last week). I'll test again this evening to check against the pool stores results. To maintain my plaster warranty I'm required to have weekly test done by a pool store.

My biggest question now, should I add Calcium Hardness Increaser and TA Increasers (obviously after my own test again), or should I just leave it alone and see how it is next week. Pool is crystal clear with no issues.

Thanks in advance, just trying to wrap my head around all of this.

Welcome to TFP.

Please post the water chemistry tests from your test kit - Taylor K-2006C or TFT Test Kits

We do not provide advice based on Pool Store tests.

Note that the PS gives you an adjusted alkalinity which is different then TFP measured alkalinity. Which illustrates why you should not mix pool care testing and methods. If you want to follow TFPC then follow TFP testing.

Ahh that makes sense now, I was wondering why my TA was so different from what I recall. I'll do my test this evening and post my results. Per my warranty I'm required for pool store testing, thus why i was there. I was also hoping for a little piece of mind with my own testing compared to their results. They were using a disc testing machine.

Do the PS tests if it gives you peace of mind and drop it in the bottom of a drawer.

Do you have PoolMath to record your own testing?

Rely on your tests if they are from one of the recommended test kits. If you need the pool store test for warranty, get them done and ignore them.
What Test kit are you using.
You need you increase your FC. With a CYA of 30 it should be at least 4. Always.

Your FC is too low for your CYA level. See…

I'm using the TFT-Pro kit. For some reason in my head I thought i needed my chlorine to be in the 1-3ppm range, I'll adjust to 4-6ppm. I lose 2-3ppm per day due to sun, (no loss during the night). Should I be adding enough chlorine to take it up to 6ppm in the morning, end up at 3-4ppm in the evening, and then add enough to bring it back to 6ppm?

Also I'm probably running my pump to long, I thought it might keep my pool cleaner running longer (VS 1.8hp pump). I cut all of my trees down, but my neighbors trees blow debris into the pool if its windy (and I live on a hill so constantly windy here). I think its running for 16 hours a day currently, with speeds split between 75% and 90% (50% won't run my chlorinator).

Thanks again!
