Pre pool opening (white water mold)

How do you winterize them ? If water can leak out before the eyeball, it can leak in. And then freeze below the patio.

At best, they get abandoned forever. But to fix them you'd be breaking up patio.
Honestly pc has always handled the winterizing. Let me look in my bucket of plugs and such to see if I can find what they use.

Breaking up patio is gonna be a NO for me

Apparently nothing. All I see the the big blue skimmer plug thing. And three screw in type plugs for 2 returns and bubbler
I'm sure they were blown with the rest of the system.

But yeah. Seeing how you're never using them, don't waste your time cycling them. Get 2 more people to help flush them away from.the pool if the need ever arises.

My guess would be freeze/thaw damage on the pipe that’s buried in the concrete. No way to fix that unless you break up the decking. Honestly I think deck jets are one of the dumbest water features you can add to a pool. They’re entirely useless with no purpose other than the “impress the neighbor” wow factor. Kids just step on them to block the water or redirect it to squirt someone or try to stick their face in the stream for simulated waterboarding. Pool water gets everywhere and floods the deck. They’re just pointless.

I say blow out the lines and shutoff the valve at the pad. Then ignore them. Depending on the type of valve, you may be able to remove the valve handle so no one can turn them on.

I agree. Although mine was for the grandbaby not the neighbor 🤣

Passed oclt this am
Fc loss of 1
Cc .5
I’ll give it at least one more day with less frequent additions and oclt unless instructed otherwise
Note : I did roll with raising to 20 instead of 16

Just picked up ahhsome (for swimming pools). It does say clarifier, which seems veers from tfp protocol, but using this for the pipe clean effects.
Says important to have ph 7.4-7.8
And TA 80-120
Of course my slam isn’t quite over. How long following a slam are ph levels accurate? When chlorine falls back to regular levels?
Thanks

Yup. Under 10 FC is fair game for PH.

We advise against clarifiers as a regular maintenance dose because it does nothing for the root of the problem needing said clarifiers. In your specific case, we are using it to target the possibly gunked up plumbing so that's it's own need. (y)

Plan of action :
Slam today
Oclt tonight
If I pass again (tomorrow morning, would be 2 nights in a row)
Start letting fc fall
Once at 10 or less
Test and adjust TA then Ph
Add ahhsome according to package
Sound about right ?

I just hung up with scheduling that. Unfortunately first week of June is the soonest I can get it done. I realize they are swamped this time of year. Just the whole “I want it now”
That’s one thing about a slam, it will teach you patience 🤣

I’ll try the double backwash thing in the meantime

Last night 8:30 pm fc 20
This am 5:30 fc 19.5 cc 0.5
(didn’t add either time)
2:30 pm fc 11
Sunrise 6:30 am. has been sunny today
I typically don’t wait this long between to test. Does loss of 8.5 feel about right for 9 hours ?

FC loss is a % and higher at elevated levels. It's why slamming with high CYA is a sunofagun. (Say with a 28FC for us SWG folks. We lose more to the sun, plus the alage part of the battle). With any luck, the loss calms down as the FC gets closer to in range.

Or it continues to point to stones left unturned, and with such a simple pool, would be the plumbing / filter.

Tad of confusion after reading some other threads today.
After last addition (now) wait 20, 30, or 60 min to test again ?
To make sure reached target and for oclt

The timing of the test only matters for checking you reached target. (Slam or regular). The OCLT can be any slightly elevated level like 8 to 10. Whatever it is at test time, is your AM target.

For example, your evening dose should have gotten you to 16, but at 10pm it's 12. Whether there was algae, your volume was off or you used weak bleach doesn't matter. The AM target is 12. :)

Advice on adding ahhsome?
Now before slam is complete to remove from plumbing or after passing ?

Won’t lie getting frustrated over here.
Opened 7 weeks ago, fighting it since really. Only been in twice

I called ahhsome guy he says chlorine 10ppm or less and ta/ph needs to be adjusted prior to adding product.
Clearly at slam levels I’m higher than 10
Ta is always high and ph well during slam …
also he said the product will help with anything in the filter
I’m more frustrated and confused by the hour.
