Water temperature sensor ID

Hi,
It seems straightforward - would help to ID this. 2nd wire in path goes to Intellitouch panel. Went to turn on solar and got error message. Water temp sensor not reading. One wire of two connectors to this sensor between pump and filter is broken. Are these connectors typical and usual?? I should hunt these down? Hopefully no special tool. Can I tape connect temporarily to assess sensor works? Another connector type I should seek?

Those are standard splices used for telephone wiring. Use any splice connectors you have.

I just used electrical tape. Nope
Then I used a "butt splice" connector Nope
Still get sensor error.
1. This is the water temp sensor? It is likely bad even though I assume wire disconnect was problem?
2. Touchpad had water temp of 0 F so I assume water sensor not the solar on the roof.
3. Do I need to re-set something? I calibrated water temp to the 66F it is right now.

Thanks, I was going to do that, but then I switched out the Air and Water wires and Air is reading with the pool sensor wires, at roughly the water temp. Hooked wires back up and pad now clearly states "pool solar sensor error"
Is that what it said before? I found the broken wire and ignored words? I think I have inner pool demons. OK now I'm going to see if I cannot fall off the roof :)

Now I continue to post for completion of thread and some amusement.
The solar sensor wire was physically damaged - the connection was separated and some of the wire cover looked like it had been ground down. Sure the casing was getting powdery from years of intense Cali heat but parts looked smashed and torn. Painters doing chimneys or furnace guy re-doing exhausts this past winter.
I checked resistance = 9.75 k, trimmed up wires, connected them and water started flowing through pipes on roof.

That is when I noticed the thin water fountain from one of the 19 year old panels. :(
