I am looking to buy a test kit. My pool details are provided below:

13,500 Gallons
Pebble Finish
Jandy 2.7 HP VS FloPro
Jandy 200 Sqft Cartridge Filter
Jandy TruClear SWG
Jandy 103k BTU VersaTemp Heater
K-2006C-SALT Test Kit (Planned).

I have researched this topic briefly and am interested in the [Taylor K-2006C-SALT] test kit. I am wondering if this would be considered overkill. My thought process is that though it is very expensive, I would like to buy a test kit that would fit any need I may encounter in the future. This kit seems comprehensive but I am inexperienced so any guidance would be greatly appreciated. If this test kit is not ideal, what test kit or combination of tests would be a better fit?

Thanks in advance!

The TF-Pro Salt is better sized for the residential pool owner. It contains more of the tests we do most often.

It uses the same Taylor reagents as the Taylor kits and is comparable to the K-2006C.
It also comes with the stirring device (which makes testing easier and more consistent).

TFTestkits is well known here and stands behind their products.

Neither kit is overkill.

I used the Taylor kit for years. It’s a great kit. Over the years I added a salt kit and a stirrer. This year I couldn’t find it (who knows where in the house it is). I ordered the TF Pro Salt and I LOVE the cool box it comes in. My husband was always complaining that test bottles were on the kitchen counter. Now that everything fits in this cute box, no complaints. Now, if only I could figure out where my old kit is.

It's not overkill at all, it's exactly what you need.

The only disadvantage of the K2006 "C" is that you have to pay for larger reagent bottles also for tests where you actually don't need them. The "C" is designed for pool techs who go through a lot of reagents and just keep replacing the C-bottles, or even refill them from even bigger bottles.

But the K2006 "without C" (containing the smaller A-bottles) doesn't have enough of some reagents that you actually do need a lot.

The solution are the kits from Tftestkits. They buy original Taylor reagents in large quantities and fill them into their own bottles, sized to the specific needs of residential pool owners to get through a pool season.

As others have already said, the TF Pro (in the Salt version for SWG pools) hits the sweet spot. I'm really jealous there, I wish they offered shipping to Australia...

Here's the skinny;

There are 2 price tiers :

K2006 (no C) 2.7x less supplies
Tf100 - 2.7x supplies.

K2006C. Too many CH/TA, not enough FC
TFPro. Sized for how we need to test
*includes $44 stirrer (that you want no matter what)
*really nice case

*TF kits are guaranteed fresh, using Taylor supplies. Actual Taylor kits may have sat on a shelf for an extended time

*TF kit owner available here and always steps in to make things right when needed.

*either TF kit can be upgraded to salt which includes the $30 salt kit for $20 more. An even better deal for either bracket.

*either TF kit can be upgraded to the SLAM option which doubles the FC tests. This is great for newbs and those with swamps who will be testing much more at first and blow through the regular supplies.

The kit is an initial investment for all the parts. After that, the reagents go on sale every spring for $44, which is much better.

Here is a recent post where Nate had to step in to make things right. Nothing goes perfect and we're all human. Sometimes it even goes south beyond his control, like in shipping, but you can rest assured it will be made right.

In the same thread, another member added that they had a minor issue and would just deal with it. Please read Nate's response in post #223 and ask yourself if that's the kind of business you'd like to support.
