My pump is running all the time but the skimmer basket wont stay full of water. Even running at top speed it only gets 85% full. when it drops to the regular 1800 i run it at it only fills up one third. I wasnt this bad before the leak detction guys came out. Do you think they ruined some of the seals or something?

Sounds like a suction side air leak to me...
Most VS pumps have a little air under the pump lid when running low RPMs, like 1000 or 1200, but there should be nothing but water at 3450..
What did the leak guys do??

Yeah, that is the way mine usually is, maybe 90% full but not now.
They pulled the top off of some of the vavles off so they could put their bladder in there to block the pipes off to test. my side suction is closed off since I never use it.

Ok, so I cleaned my filter to see if that was it but it is still the same. I had the leak test guys out because of a suction side leak but I have turned off that valve and have even put a plug in the return section.
However, it still wont fill up. I have primed the pump but it still wont fill up. For a while it has been a little low which I thought was ok because it is a variable speed pump.
For the last couple of weeks though it barely gets over the top of the suction line.
I have a few questions:
1. should I turn it off for now and just set it to run a couple times a day at full speed? THat way it is mostly full.
2. should I have my return valves all the way open or only partial?
3. should I have the suction valves all the way open or partial?
